MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (August 2, 2026). – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans (13-23, 40-60) dropped the final game of the Sonic Highway 17 showdown against the Charleston RiverDogs (21-15, 58-44) 2-0 in a rain-shortened affair at Pelicans Ballpark on Sunday night. The RiverDogs take the weeklong series 4-2.
Due to the inclement weather cancelling tonight’s fireworks show, Pelicans fans can exchange their ticket for any remaining 2026 regular season game or any 2027 regular season home game. Fans can hold onto their ticket and just exchange it at the box office the next time they come to Pelicans Ballpark or swap it out over the phone by calling 843-918-6000.
Charleston grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth with a solo home run from Brody Donay (1).
The RiverDogs added to their lead in the top of the sixth. Andreimi Antunez roped a single and later moved to second on a wild pitch. After Ryan Cermak was plunked, Alberth Palma drew a walk to load the bases. Then the next batter Dean Moss grounded out which scored Antunez to increase the score to 2-0.
As the top of the sixth inning concluded, the skies opened up forcing the game to go into a delay. Despite a short break in the rain, additional storms quickly entered the area and the game was declared final.
LHP Yereny Teus (6-0, 2.40) received the win for the RiverDogs. RHP Riely Hunsaker (3-3, 5.08) was tagged with the loss for the Pelicans.
Myrtle Beach will have the day off tomorrow before hitting the road to start a six-game set against the Columbia Fireflies (Single-A Kansas City Royals) on Tuesday, August 4 at Segra Park. First pitch is slated for 7:05 PM. Both teams starting pitchers have yet to be announced.
