MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (August 1, 2026). – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans (13-22, 40-59) took in game five of the Sonic Highway 17 showdown against the Charleston RiverDogs (20-15, 57-44) in front of 4,027 fans at Pelicans Ballpark on Saturday night. The Pelicans now trail in the weeklong series 3-2.
Pelicans designated hitter Jhoander Irigoyen was a perfect 3-3 at the plate with three singles and a walk in his professional debut.
Right-hander Noah Edders (1-4, 3.79) was stellar tossing 5.0 scoreless innings while surrendering one hit and racking up seven strikeouts.
Myrtle Beach started the scoring in the bottom of the second. Eli Lovich started the inning with a walk and then scored on an RBI double from Jose Silva to give the Birds a 1-0 lead. After Corey Nunez drew a walk, Dom Krupinski smacked an RBI single for his first career hit as a member of the Cubs organization. A batter later, Alexey Lumpuy roped a three-run triple which extended the Pelicans lead to 5-0.
The Pelicans scored again in the sixth inning. Krupinski walked and then moved to third on a single from Irigoyen. Jan Reyes followed with an RBI single to make the score 6-0.
Edders received the win for the Pelicans. RHP Jacob Kuhn (1-1, 2.73) was tagged with the loss for the RiverDogs.
Myrtle Beach will conclude their six-game homestand at Pelicans Ballpark on Sunday, August 2 against the Charleston RiverDogs (Single-A Tampa Bay Rays). First pitch is at 6:35 PM. RHP Riely Hunsaker (3-2, 5.37) will start on the hill for the Pelicans. LHP Dominic Fritton (3-5, 5.15) gets the start for the RiverDogs.
