
NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (August 25, 2026). – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans (19-35, 46-72) took the series opener against the Augusta GreenJackets (29-25, 64-56) 5-4 at SRP Park on Tuesday night. With the win, the Pelicans jump ahead in the weeklong series 1-0.
The score was tied in the top of the ninth when the Pelicans offense sparked. Corey Nunez worked a one-out walk and then moved to third on a single from Darlyn De Leon. After De Leon swiped second, Jan Reyes roped a go-ahead two-run single to put the Pelicans in front 5-3.
Augusta attempted to comeback in the bottom of the ninth with a solo home run from Juan Mateo (5) to cut the deficit to 5-4.
Pelicans starting pitcher Jubrayker Salaya registered a season-high four strikeouts over four innings of one-run ball.
The GreenJackets started the scoring in the bottom of the first. Mateo doubled and then scored on an RBI double from Cooper McMurray to give Augusta a 1-0 lead.
Myrtle Beach tied the game in the top of the third on a solo home run from De Leon (2).
The Pelicans added two more runs in the top of the fourth. Alexis Hernandez led off the inning with a double. Then Caden Sorrell singled. After Hernandez was retired at third on groundout forceout that allowed Jhoander Irigoyen to reach first, Nunez lined an RBI single to move the score to 2-1. De Leon followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-1.
Augusta trimmed the Pelicans lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth. Caleb Klein was walked and then scored on an RBI double from Cade Merritt.
The GreenJackets tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth on a bases loaded walk surrendered to Merritt.
RHP Jordan Henriquez (3-4, 5.29) received the win for the Pelicans. RHP Styven Paez (0-2, 5.21) was tagged with the loss for the GreenJackets.
Myrtle Beach will continue their final roadtrip of the season on Wednesday, August 26 against the Augusta GreenJackets (Single-A Braves) at SRP Park. First pitch is slated for 6:35 PM. LHP Hayden Frank (3-8, 4.87) starts on the hill for the Pelicans. RHP Yander Pinero (0-0, 10.13) will get the nod for the GreenJackets.
