MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (September 4, 2026). – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans (23-40, 50-77) took game four against the Columbia Fireflies (30-33, 64-65) 7-2 in front of 5,285 fans at Pelicans Ballpark on Friday night. With the win, the Pelicans still control the weeklong series against the Fireflies 3-1.
After falling behind to the Fireflies 2-0, the Pelicans offense woke up in the bottom of the second. Derik Alcantara singled and then moved to third on a single, coupled with a throwing error from Jose Silva. A batter later Ivan Cespedes grounded out which brought home Alcantara to cut the deficit to 2-1.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Pelicans tied the game up at 2-2 with a solo home run from Juan Tomas (1).
Myrtle Beach added five more runs in the seventh. With runners on the corners, Darlyn De Leon roped an RBI single to score Silva from third which gave the Birds a 3-2 advantage. After Tomas drew a walk, Alexis Hernandez lined an RBI single to score Cespedes and then on an errant throw to home plate, De Leon scored to make the game 5-2. The next batter Corey Nunez reached on a fielder’s choice coupled with a throwing error, that brought home two more runs to make the game 7-2.
Columbia started the scoring in the top of the first. Henry Ramos walked and then stole second. One batter later, Camden Johnson lined an RBI single to put the Fireflies in front 1-0. After a strikeout, Daniel Lopez reached on a throwing error that scored Johnson to make the lead 2-0.
RHP Luis Mata (1-2, 5.40) received the win for the Pelicans. RHP Dalton Hill (2-1, 7.36) was tagged with the loss for the Fireflies.
Myrtle Beach will continue their final homestand of the 2026 season on Saturday, September 5 against the Columbia Fireflies (Single-A Royals) at Pelicans Ballpark. The first 1000 fans into the gates will receive a 2025 NL All-Star Game Pete Crow-Armstrong Bobblehead. First pitch is slated for 7:05 PM. RHP Freddy Rodriguez (0-3, 8.31) gets the start on the hill for the Pelicans. RHP Jose Gutierrez (9-4, 3.62) will get the nod on the mound for the Fireflies.
