NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (August 30, 2026). – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans (20-39, 47-76) fell in the series finale against the Augusta GreenJackets (33-26, 68-57) 10-8 at SRP Park on Sunday night. With the loss, the Pelicans lose to the GreenJackets in the weeklong series 4-2.
Myrtle Beach led 8-1 entering the bottom of the eighth when the GreenJackets offense sparked a rally. With Junior Tilien and Manuel Campos on first and third, a wild pitch brought in the first run of the rally. Caleb Klein followed with an single which moved Campos to third. Juan Mateo followed with an RBI single to move the score to 8-3. Then another wild pitch scored Klein to cut the lead in half 8-4. After Cooper McMurray walked, Parker Brosius grounded into a forceout, coupled with a throwing error scored Mateo to make the game 8-5. Then Jacob Jarrell and Matt Scannell were walked to load the bases. Tilien followed with a bases clearing three-run single to tie the game up at 8-8. The next batter Campos ripped an RBI single to put the GreenJackets in front 9-8. Klein followed with another RBI single to extend the score to 10-8.
In the top of the eighth, the Pelicans stretched their lead to 8-1 by scoring three runs in the frame, capped off by Darlyn De Leon (4) and Derniche Valdez (10) hitting back-to-back home runs.
The Birds put up two runs in the top of the sixth. Alexis Hernandez (3) launched a solo home run to make the score 4-1. A batter later Valdez (9) smashed a solo home run to give the Pelicans a 5-1 advantage.
Myrtle Beach led 2-1 in the top of the third when Eli Lovich cranked an RBI double to move the lead to 3-1.
Trailing the Pelicans 2-0, Brosius (3) smacked a solo home run to trim the GreenJackets deficit to 2-1.
The Birds started the scoring in the top of the first. With Corey Nunez on first, Jhoander Irigoyen singled which moved Nunez to third. A batter later Hernandez lined an RBI single to put the Pelicans in front 1-0. In the next at-bat, a wild pitch scored Irigoyen to make the game 2-0.
RHP Brody Fowler (2-1, 6.41) received the win for the GreenJackets. RHP John Alkire II (0-1, 10.48) was tagged with the loss for the Pelicans. RHP Styven Paez (S,8) received the save.
Myrtle Beach will have the day off tomorrow before returning home to start their final homestand of the 2026 season on Tuesday, September 1 against the Columbia Fireflies (Single-A Royals). First pitch is slated for 7:05 PM. Both teams starting pitchers have yet to be announced.
