NORFOLK, Va --- The Norfolk Tides (12-26 | 40-73) defeated the Gwinnett Stripers (20-20 | 58-56), 4-3, on Tuesday night at Harbor Park. Down 3-1 into the eighth inning, Reed Trimble launched the go-ahead three-run home run to take the game in Norfolk's favor.
Nestor German exited as the losing pitcher of record but had a modest start. He threw 5.0 innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out two batters. German threw 91 pitches, 54 for strikes.
The first run scored by Norfolk came by Luis Vázquez, who blasted his fourth home run of the season. The Tides were down 3-0 entering the bottom of the sixth prior to the clout. With two outs, Trimble hit his fifth home run of the season with two outs to win the game for the Tides.
