NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Sam Kulasingam set a team record with eight RBI and tied another with six hits in the Northwest Arkansas Naturals' (27-36, 56-74) 24-4 victory over the Arkansas Travelers (28-35, 69-62) at Dickey-Stephens Park on Sunday night. The Naturals earned the series split, concluding the road portion of their 2026 schedule. There are six games left in the season, all of which take place at Arvest Ballpark beginning Tuesday night.
NWA started hot, scoring four runs in the opening frame with Luke Pelzer singling to center and stealing second base. Javier Vaz singled to drive him in and went to third on Kulasingam's first hit of the night, a single to left. Spencer Nivens doubled to right, plating Vaz, and Daniel Vazquez reached on catcher interference to load the bases. Connor Scott grounded out ot first, but everyone moved up with Nivens coming home to make it a 4-0 game.
NWA starter Steven Zobac worked a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the frame and the Nats struck for another run with Kulasingam plating Pelzer on another single.
Northwest Arkansas gouged the Travelers for seven runs in the third to take a commanding 12-0 lead. Scott and Justin Johnson both doubled to plate a run, and Kulasingam blasted a three-run homer during the frame. Johnson came back up later in the inning and knocked home two more, giving NWA a dozen runs.
The Nats scored again in the fifth after the Travelers scored two in the bottom of the fourth on a homer, but brought home three more in the sixth, with two coming off Kulasingam's second homer of the night. It was his first multi-homer game.
In the top of the ninth, the Travelers opted to use a position player, SS Josh Hood, on the mound, but the Naturals offense didn't relent. Johnson took Hood deep for his 13th homer of the year, and Kulasingam drove in the 20th run of the night and his seventh and eighth RBI to set a new team record for RBI in a game. It was also his sixth hit of the game, tying Ed Lucas' franchise record from 2008.
Later in the frame, Vazquez doubled home a run, and Scott cleared the bases with a three-run homer to make it a 24-4 game. Tyson Guerrero got the final six outs of the night to secure a historic win.
The 24 runs are the most in a single game in franchise history, surpassing the previous record of 21. NWA's 29 hits blew past the previous high of 22, which was also set against the Travelers on May 22, 2010. The team's 23 RBI also breaks the old high-water mark of 20, accomplished twice in 2013 and 2022. The Naturals had 48 total bases, breaking the old record of 40 set on May 22, 2010 against the Travs and tied on August 2, 2026 against Tulsa.
As a team, the Naturals posted a .547 batting average for the game with seven doubles, four home runs, 23 RBI on 24 runs scored, five walks, and five strikeouts. Every player in the lineup had at least one hit, one RBI, and scored one run. Eight players had multi-hit games and six had three or more hits. Three players had multi-RBI games, with Kulasingam at eight, Johnson at five, and Scott at four.
