Game Summary: The Oklahoma City Comets continued their offensive surge with a 9-2 victory over the Las Vegas Aviators Thursday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Las Vegas (18-12/62-41) scored the opening run two batters into the game on an RBI single from Darell Hernaiz. Oklahoma City (14-15/55-48) tied the game with its first hit of the night on a solo blast from Chuckie Robinson in the third inning. The Comets took the lead in the fourth inning on a pair of run-scoring singles from Zach Ehrhard and Jack Suwinski. Oklahoma City scored for a third straight frame with a three-run fifth inning thanks to a two-RBI double from Zach Ehrhard followed by a single from Ryan Ward to extend to a 6-1 advantage. The Aviators got back on the board in the sixth inning on an RBI groundout from Michael Stefanic before Oklahoma City responded with a three-run seventh inning to extend to a seven-run lead.

Of Note:

-The Comets have won back-to-back games for the first time since the All-Star break, taking a 2-1 series lead over the Aviators…Oklahoma City improved to 6-1 in its last seven games at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark and have opened a series with two wins within the first three games for just the second time since their June 9-14 series in Charlotte.

-Oklahoma City scored nine runs on 12 hits and has scored a combined 20 runs on 28 hits during the last two games. Additionally, the Comets have homered six times during the first three games of the current series.

-Zach Ehrhard matched a season-high mark with four RBI as part of a 3-for-4 night with a double. The outfielder reached four RBI for the fourth time this season, last doing so June 17 against Sacramento…He has hit safely in nine of his last 11 games, going 17-for-42 (.405).

-Ryan Ward has driven in seven runs over the last three games going 1-for-4 Thursday with a RBI. During 20 games in July, Ward is 22-for-80 with eight extra-base hits and 21 RBI.

-Alek Thomas matched Zach Ehrhard with a team-high three hits, including two doubles and two RBI. He recorded at least three hits in a game for the fifth time this season with Oklahoma City.

-Chuckie Robinson homered in a second consecutive game and for the third time in the last six games. 

-In a bullpen game, five Comets pitchers combined to allow two runs and five hits with four walks and eight strikeouts. Jerming Rosario (3-1) tossed a season-high 3.0 scoreless innings for the win. The righthander surrendered one hit and one walk while striking out one batter.

Next Up: The Comets continue their series against the Aviators at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark on Harry Potter Night and Gymnastics Night. The Comets will wear special Harry Potter-themed jerseys and the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Harry Potter scarf.
