Game Summary: The Oklahoma City Comets extended their winning streak to six games, opening a road series with a 10-6 victory over the Salt Lake Bees Tuesday night at The Ballpark at America First Square. Oklahoma City (18-15/59-48) put three runs on the board in the first inning with a run-scoring single from James Tibbs III followed by a two-RBI double off the bat of Ryan Ward. Salt Lake (10-24/49-59) also scored in the first inning when Kyren Paris hit a leadoff homer. The Comets scored three runs again in the second inning with a bases-loaded walk drawn by Tibbs and a two-run single from Ward. Noah Miller’s RBI single in the third inning made it 7-1 before the Bees responded with two runs in the bottom half, including a solo homer by Gustavo Campero. Salt Lake went deep for the third time in the fifth inning with a three-run shot from Yolmer Sánchez to cut the Comets' lead to 7-6. The Comets built some cushion with two runs in the seventh inning capped by a two-out double by Griffin Lockwood-Powell and later added another run in the ninth on the second RBI single of the night from Miller.
Of Note:
-The Comets continued their second-longest win streak of the season and will have a chance to match their season high of seven straight wins set May 14-21…The Comets have also reached 11 games over .500 for the second time this season, now holding a 59-48 overall record.
-OKC has scored at least six runs in seven of the last eight games, totaling 58 runs in that span…The Comets finished with at least 10 hits of the fifth time in the last seven games and at least 12 hits for the fourth time during the current six-game winning streak.
-Ryan Ward went 3-for-5 with a double and tied his season high with four RBI for the second time in the last six games. He is up to 14 RBI over the last seven games...Ward’s double was the 93rd of his Oklahoma City career, tying Kelly Dransfeldt for the Bricktown-era record.
-James Tibbs III reached base in all five plate appearances, finishing 3-for-3 with two RBI, a walk, hit by pitch and two runs scored. He’s recorded a hit in each of his last four games and seven of his last eight contests. During the eight-game stretch, Tibbs is 11-for-27 (.407) with three doubles, one triple, five RBI and five walks.
-Zach Ehrhard finished 1-for-4 with two walks, a stolen base and two runs scored to extend his on-base streak to 13 games. The outfielder is batting .367 (18-for-49) with 10 RBI, 13 walks and 13 runs scored during the stretch.
-Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell made the fourth start of his Major League Rehab Assignment and third with Oklahoma City. Snell tossed 3.2 innings with three runs, five hits, four walks and three strikeouts. He allowed a pair of solo homers and threw 73 pitches (41 strikes)…The two-time Cy Young award winner has been on the Injured List since May 15 while recovering from surgery to remove loose bodies in his left elbow.
