Game Summary: Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow recorded eight strikeouts over 3.2 scoreless and hitless innings during his latest rehab start Friday night, but the Oklahoma City Comets ended the night with a 4-2 loss to the Albuquerque Isotopes at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Oklahoma City (24-18/65-51) scored a pair of runs in the third inning with a RBI double from Ryan Ward followed by a wild pitch that brought home Chadwick Tromp. Albuquerque (22-21/61-57) took the lead with a three-run fifth inning that included a bases-loaded walk and a two-run single from Jose Cordova. The Isotopes added on in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly off the bat of Charlie Condon. Oklahoma City was held scoreless and to two hits following Ward’s double as the Comets also stranded three runners on base across the final two innings.
Of Note:
-The series between the Comets and Isotopes is now even at 2-2…Friday’s loss by the Comets was just OKC’s third in the last 15 games overall and second loss in the last nine home games…With two losses this series, Oklahoma City has lost more than once in a home series for the first time since a series split June 30-July 5 vs. Sugar Land.
-Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow made the third start of his Major League Rehab Assignment and second with Oklahoma City. Glasnow tossed 3.2 scoreless and hitless innings with two walks and eight strikeouts. He threw 67 pitches (39 strikes), facing 13 batters…Glasnow became the fourth Oklahoma City pitcher to throw a season-high eight strikeouts and second this week after Emmet Sheehan did so Aug. 12…Glasnow, the 2024 National League All-Star and two-time World Series Champion, has been on the Injured List since May 8 while recovering from low back spasms.
-Oklahoma City pitchers matched a season-high with 16 strikeouts for the third time this season, last done July 1 vs. Sugar Land. The Comets reached double-digits for the third straight game and Oklahoma City has struck out 39 batters during the three-game stretch.
-Ryan Ward set a Bricktown-era record with his 94th career double in the third inning, surpassing Kelly Dransfeldt’s 93 career doubles...Ward is riding a seven-game hitting streak, going 13-for-30 (.433) with a double, three homers and 10 RBI…With a RBI Friday, Ward has now driven in 17 runs in 11 August games.
-James Tibbs III went 1-for-3 with a walk to extend to a 13-game on-base streak. During the stretch, Tibbs is 20-for-50 (.333) with seven extra-base hits and 15 RBI.
-Oklahoma City scored fewer than six runs in a game for the first time since Aug. 2 to end a nine-game streak. The Comets had scored 80 runs during the nine-game stretch…OKC’s two runs scored Friday were the fewest for the Comets since an 11-0 loss in Sacramento July 25.
-Zach Ehrhard’s 21-game on-base streak came to an end as he was held 0-for-4. The outfielder hit .361 (30-for-83) with 18 RBI, 20 walks and 25 runs scored during the stretch, which was tied for the second-longest on-base streak by an OKC player this season.
