Game Summary: The Oklahoma City Comets tossed their second shutout of the week in a 1-0 blanking of the Albuquerque Isotopes Saturday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Oklahoma City (25-18/66-51) put up the game’s lone run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly off the bat of James Tibbs III. Albuquerque (22-22/61-58) wouldn’t secure its first hit until the sixth inning and OKC was held scoreless over its final seven trips to the plate. The Isotopes had their best scoring chance in the eighth inning when Drew Avans stole second base and advanced to third on an OKC throwing error before being thrown out at home plate by Alex Freeland to preserve OKC’s shutout.
-Oklahoma City took a 3-2 lead in its six-game series against the Isotopes as the Comets matched their season-best mark at 15 games above .500. The Comets have now won 13 of their last 16 games overall and have won 12 of their last 15 games at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
-The Comets pitched a two-hit shutout, blanking Albuquerque for the second time this week as they also won Wednesday’s game via shutout, 6-0. Oklahoma City has recorded two shutout wins in the same series for the first time since April 30-May 3, 2018 at Memphis…Oklahoma City now has eight shutout wins this year for their most in a season since recording nine in 2018…The Comets secured a 1-0 victory for the second time this year and first time since April 10 vs. Round Rock.
-The two hits allowed by Oklahoma City matched a season-low mark for the fourth time this season and first time since July 12 against El Paso.
-Cole Irvin became the first Oklahoma City starter to pitch into the seventh inning this season, firing 6.2 scoreless innings with one hit, two walks and eight strikeouts. He became the third Comets pitcher to record a season-high eight strikeouts this week, joining Emmet Sheehan and Tyler Glasnow, and became the fifth Comets pitcher to do so overall this season…Irvin collected his team-leading ninth quality start and lowered his PCL-leading ERA to 3.36, retiring 13 batters in a row from the first through fifth innings…The outing was the longest from an Oklahoma City pitcher since Landon Knack matched the effort June 28, 2025 at Sacramento.
-Ryan Ward went 1-for-4 to extend his season-best hitting streak to eight games. He is 14-for-34 (.412) with a double, three homers and 10 RBI during the hitting streak.
-James Tibbs III finished 1-for-2 with a RBI to continue a 14-game on-base streak. During the stretch, Tibbs is 21-for-52 (.404) with seven extra-base hits and 16 RBI.
