Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026 – Constellation Field – Sugar Land, Texas

Game Summary: The Oklahoma City Comets’ three-game losing skid came to an end, defeating the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, 5-1, Saturday night at Constellation Field. Sugar Land (34-16/66-58) took a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Comets (28-21/69-54) evened the score a half-inning later with a run-scoring single from Zach Ehrhard. OKC jumped ahead with a two-run fifth inning, including a RBI double by James Tibbs III followed by a Ryan Ward sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the inning, the Space Cowboys loaded the bases with one out, but Jackson Ferris struck out each of the next two hitters to protect the lead. The Comets added a pair of sacrifice flies in the eighth inning from Austin Gauthier and Ryan Fitzgerald to extend to a 5-1 lead.

Of Note:

-The Comets improved to 16-6 over the last 22 games…OKC still trails the series, 3-2, and will play for a split Sunday afternoon.

-The Comets have allowed 13 runs across the first five games of the series…The Comets have surrendered four runs or fewer in each of the last 10 games, totaling 20 runs (14 ER) during that span…After allowing a run in the first inning Saturday, the Comets held the Space Cowboys scoreless over the final eight innings. 

-Jackson Ferris tossed 5.0 innings with one run, six hits, two walks and three strikeouts for his second straight victory. Across his last two starts, Ferris has combined to allow one run and 10 hits over 10.0 innings with 12 strikeouts.

-James Tibbs III finished 1-for-4 with a double, RBI and a walk. He is 8-for-18 (.444) with one double, three home runs and five RBI this series, and over 10 games at Constellation Field this season he is 17-for-42 (.405) with nine homers and 21 RBI.

-Jerming Rosario extended his scoreless appearance streak to 13 games after 2.0 innings with one hit and one strikeout. Since July 7, Rosario has fired 16.1 scoreless frames with 13 hits, four walks and 15 strikeouts. It’s now tied for the most consecutive scoreless appearances in the PCL this season alongside Miguel Ullola (Sugar Land) and Nick Zwack (Sacramento).

-Oklahoma City turned four double plays, matching a season high previously set May 7 vs. Salt Lake.
