Game Summary: The Oklahoma City Comets completed a series sweep and earned a ninth straight victory in a 3-1 win over the Round Rock Express Sunday afternoon at Dell Diamond. Following a slow offensive start for both teams, Round Rock (33-30/64-74) nearly broke the scoreless tie in the sixth inning before John Taylor was caught stealing at home plate to end the inning. Oklahoma City (39-24/80-57) responded with a two-run single from Zach Ehrhard in the seventh inning for the game’s first runs. Ehrhard came through again with a run-scoring single in the ninth inning to extend OKC to a three-run lead. Round Rock ended the shutout in the ninth inning with a two-out RBI double from Aaron Zavala. The Express brought the potential winning run to the plate before Jerming Rosario struck out Keyber Rodriguez to end the game.
Of Note:
-Oklahoma City swept its six-game series in Round Rock, earning its second-ever six-game series sweep and first since May 9-14, 2023, also at Round Rock…The Comets have matched their season-best nine-game winning streak while also winning 10 of their last 11 contests. OKC last put together a nine-game winning streak July 29-Aug. 7.
-The Comets will now enter their pivotal upcoming home series against Sugar Land owning at least a share of first place in the PCL second half standings. Oklahoma City is currently a half-game ahead of Sugar Land, which is set to host Reno later tonight…At 80-57 overall, the Comets are a season-best 23 games above .500 and became the first PCL team to reach 80 wins this season and the second Triple-A team to reach the mark (Rochester).
-With Sunday’s win, the Comets closed their season series against the Express by winning 10 straight games at Dell Diamond and 11 of 12 games there this season. The Comets finished 17-7 against the Express this season, securing their most wins in a single season against Round Rock in franchise history.
-Zach Ehrhard collected a pair of hits, drove in three runs and drew a pair of walks Sunday. The outfielder collected his first multi-RBI game since a three-RBI game Aug. 27 vs. El Paso.
-Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Edwin Díaz began a Major League Rehab Assignment with Oklahoma City. He tossed a scoreless seventh inning with one walk and one strikeout while throwing 16 pitches (seven strikes). Díaz is recovering from neck inflammation.
-Hyeseong Kim went 2-for-4 with a double to extend a season-best on-base streak to 12 games. He’s 17-for-45 (.378) with three extra-base hits and four RBI during the stretch.
-Oklahoma City held the Express to one run in each of the last two games of the series and allowed a total of four runs over the final three games. The Comets allowed three runs or fewer in each of the final five games of the series as they allowed 10 runs during the five-game stretch and 14 runs during the entire series.
-Ryan Fitzgerald’s 12-game hitting streak came to an end as he finished the game 0-for-5. He went 17-for-46 (.370) with eight extra-base hits and 11 RBI during the stretch, which tied his career-best hitting streak.
-The Comets became the second PCL team this season to reach 40 road wins as they are 14-4 in the last 18 road games, including wins in eight straight.
Next Up: The Comets return to Oklahoma City for their final home series of the 2026 season and a key series with playoff implications starting at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
