Game Summary: The El Paso Chihuahuas used two big innings to beat the Oklahoma City Comets, 14-8, Saturday night at Southwest University Park. The Comets (47-27/88-60) scored five runs in the third inning on a two-run blast from Noah Miller followed by a three-run dinger by James Tibbs III. El Paso (25-49/60-89) got one run back in the bottom of the third and later took the lead with a five-run fourth inning. The Comets tied the game in the fifth inning with a RBI single from Ryan Fitzgerald. El Paso jumped ahead with another huge inning, scoring seven runs in the sixth inning before an out was recorded. El Paso added another run in the seventh inning to make it 14-6. The Comets brought home a pair of runs in the eighth inning on a Chris Newell RBI single followed by a sacrifice fly from Miller.
Of Note:
-The Comets lost after winning the previous three games...OKC leads El Paso, 3-2, in the six-game series.
-With a loss by Las Vegas Saturday night, the Comets have clinched the best regular season record in the PCL for the 2026 season regardless of Sunday’s results.
-James Tibbs III hit his 30th home run of the year, joining Tacoma’s Patrick Wisdom as the only two PCL hitters to reach the milestone. Tibbs also became the seventh player during OKC’s Bricktown era to hit 30 or more home runs in a season...His 107 RBI are tied for the second-most in a single season in the Bricktown era.
-Noah Miller hit his second homer in three games, extending his season total to 12. The infielder also finished Saturday with three RBI, marking his most in a game since May 26 at Sugar Land.
-Zach Ehrhard went 1-for-5 with a double and a run scored. He extended his hitting streak to a season-best 11 games and is 19-for-45 (.422) with six extra-base hits and seven RBI during the stretch…Ehrhard upped his league-leading run total to 118, adding to his Bricktown era single-season record.
-Mike Sirota reached base four times in his Triple-A debut, going 1-for-2 with a double and three walks. The outfielder is the Dodgers’ No. 2 prospect (No. 15 overall) according to MLB Pipeline.
-El Paso tallied 16 hits, as the Comets allowed their most hits in a game since April 24 against Tacoma…The 14 runs by El Paso tied of the second-most allowed by OKC in a game this season...The Chihuahuas scored seven runs in the sixth inning, marking the third time this year an opponent scored seven or more runs in an inning…OKC has allowed double-digit runs twice in the same series since April 14-19 at Albuquerque.
-The Comets lost for the third time this year in a game they once led by five or more runs.
