ROCHESTER ROAD TRIP
The Rochester Red Wings will be visiting Werner Park for the first time in history and will be coming back to the Omaha metro for the first time since 1990. The last time the Red Wings were in Omaha came in September 1990, when they came to Rosenblatt Stadium for the Triple-A Classic, at the time Triple-A’s championship series. The Omaha Royals beat the Red Wings 4 games to 1 in the matchup, claiming the championship in front of the home fans.
ROYAL RETURN
The Red Wings will have a quartet of former members of the Royals organization suiting up for their side, including 2024 International League champion Chandler Champlain. Champlain pitched parts of 2 years with Omaha, leading the Storm Chasers in starts (45), strikeouts (172) and innings pitched (223.2) over the past 2 seasons. INF Cayden Wallace never played for Omaha, but spent the first few years of his career with the Royals after Kansas City selected him in the 2nd round of the 2022 draft. Red Wings defensive coach Mario Lisson also played for Omaha before he took on coaching, signing with the Royals out of Venezuela in 2002 and spending over a decade (2002-2012) in Kansas City’s organization. Similarly, Storm Chasers Assistant Coach Tripp Keister managed 10 seasons (2012-2022) in Washington’s system, coaching many players who would eventually play for the Red Wings.
