
PAPILLION, NEB. – The Omaha Storm Chasers (24-23/57-64) took down the Rochester Red Wings (29-20/74-48) on Friday night 4-3 to snap a 5-game losing streak. Brett Squires hit a go-ahead home run in the 8th inning while Omaha starter Ryan Ramsey fired 5.0 innings of 2-run ball to lead the Storm Chasers to the 1-run win.
The Red Wings opened the scoring in the top of the 1st inning with an RBI single off Ramsey to make it a 1-0 game.
Ramsey returned with a perfect top of the 2nd inning, but gave up a leadoff home run in the top of the 3rd inning to extend Rochester’s lead to 2-0. The southpaw then worked back-to-back scoreless frames in the 4th and 5th innings and Ben Sears relieved him to open the 6th inning. Ramsey finished the game with 5.0 innings of 2-run ball, striking out 6 batters.
Sears kept the Red Wings off the board in the top of the 6th inning, then MLB Rehabber Beck Way fired a 1-2-3 top of the 7th inning.
In the bottom of the 7th inning, Jacob Berry cut the lead to 2-1 with a solo home run, then in the bottom of the 8th inning, Squires hit a go-ahead 3-run home run to give Omaha a 4-2 advantage.
After Lucas Erceg (1-0) pitched a scoreless 8th inning, Anthony Gose came in for the top of the 9th inning, and despite giving up a solo home run to bring the score to 4-3, Gose finished the game and earned his first save of the season.
The Storm Chasers will take on the Red Wings again at Werner Park on Saturday night. First pitch is set for 6:05 P.M. CT and Hunter Patteson is scheduled to start and make his Triple-A debut.
