INDIANAPOLIS – The Omaha Storm Chasers (31-36/64-77) lost on a 9th-inning walk-off, 6-5 to the Indianapolis Indians (40-29/71-73) on Sunday afternoon. The Chasers jumped out to an early lead but could not hold on as the Indians came back to win the game.
Omaha leapt out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st inning, with 5 of the game’s first 6 batters recording hits. Drew Waters started the scoring with an RBI single, then Carson Roccaforte single in a pair and Peyton Wilson doubled home Roccaforte. After his single, Roccaforte stole 2nd base, his 30th steal in the Minor Leagues this year, to secure just the 9th 30/30 season in the Minors since 2005.
Indianapolis stormed back to tie the game at 4-4 in the 2nd inning. After Omaha starter Ryan Ramsey worked a scoreless 1st, the Indians used a pair of RBI doubles and an RBI single off Ramsey to bring the game back even.
Waters promptly gave the Chasers the lead back, homering to open the 3rd inning for a 5-4 lead in what wound up being Omaha’s final run of the game.
Ramsey allowed a solo homer to open the 5th, as Indianapolis tied the game 5-5.
Behind Ramsey, Ben Sears and Connor Seabold worked scoreless 5th and 6th innings respectively, then Luke Little struck out the side in the bottom of the 7th inning and Carlos Duran struck out the side in the bottom of the 8th.
The Storm Chasers were unable to re-take the lead off the Indianapolis bullpen, with Omaha held scoreless and to 3 hits over the final 6 innings, with no runner getting past second base.
Scott Alexander (0-2) took the mound in the bottom of the 9th and after striking out his first batter, surrendered a double and walk-off single, as Indianapolis claimed the week 4 games to 2 and the season series 13 games to 11.
Brett Squires finished the game 3-for-4 with a double, while Maikel Garcia, Waters and Roccaforte each contributed 2-hit efforts.
Omaha wraps up the 2026 season with 6 games against the Iowa Cubs beginning Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. CT at Werner Park, with Tony Gonsolin slated to make his 4th MLB Rehab start.
