Chiefs lose as Sky Carp slug seven homers

August 16th, 2026

Beloit hit seven home runs, the most allowed by Peoria in recorded franchise history, en route to a 16-6 series-clinching win Sunday afternoon at Dozer Park.

With the loss, the Chiefs fell to 23-24, 5.5 games behind first-place Beloit.

After the teams combined for just one home run across Saturday’s doubleheader, Dillon Head started the series finale with a solo homer to right field off Peoria starter Nate Dohm, making it 1-0 Beloit.

In the second, the long ball continued to hurt the Chiefs as Chase Jaworsky sent a solo shot that barely cleared the left-center field wall before Jacob Jenkins-Cowart homered to right after Wilson Weber’s double, extending the Sky Carp’s lead to 4-0.

Brian Sanchez hit a two-run home run in the third to give the Sky Carp their fourth bomb of the game and a 6-0 lead.

The fourth inning featured three runs on six hits for the Sky Carp. Cody Schrier drove in a run with a single and Starlyn Caba hit a two-run base hit to make it 9-0 Beloit.

A five-run sixth propelled the Sky Carp’s lead to 14-0 behind a pair of home runs from Cody Schrier and Wilson Weber.

Caba hit a two-run bomb to right in the seventh, marking the Sky Carp’s seventh home run of the game, the most given up by the Chiefs on record.

The Chiefs scored all six runs when they were down to their final out in the ninth inning on a pair of RBI walks and a grand slam from Jalin Flores.

Dohm took the loss, allowing six runs on six hits over three innings while walking one and striking out one. Peoria used six pitchers in the loss.

Beloit scored 16 runs on 19 hits, while the Chiefs posted six runs on eight hits.

The Chiefs begin a two-week road trip on Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. CT. Peoria takes on the Lansing Lugnuts for a six-game set before facing the West Michigan Whitecaps the following week.
