PEORIA – The Peoria Chiefs and Susan G. Komen Central Illinois have announced Dozer Park will host the organization’s Peoria MORE THAN PINK Walk event on Saturday, May 8, 2027.
For 41 years, Komen has hosted the Peoria MORE THAN PINK Walk (formerly the Race for the Cure) to unite thousands of survivors, supporters, volunteers and advocates in the fight against breast cancer.
The event raises funds to help accelerate breast cancer research, improve treatment and deliver vital support to those facing a diagnosis. In the U.S., breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women and 1 in 1,000 men in their lifetime.
“We’re excited and honored to join Susan G. Komen’s fight against breast cancer by hosting our region’s MORE THAN PINK walk,” Peoria Chiefs General Manager Jason Mott said. “While Dozer is the home of the Chiefs, above all else, it’s a place for the Central Illinois community to come together. With that in mind, we can’t wait to welcome everybody to the park and build on a great tradition.”
Each of the prior 41 walks was hosted at the Peoria Metro Centre, which was developed by Marvin Goodman, Susan G. Komen’s father.
"As we close an extraordinary 41-year chapter at Metro Centre, we do so with heartfelt gratitude for the venue, its leadership, and the generations of supporters who helped build this event into a cherished community tradition. The connection between Metro Centre and Marvin and Ellie Goodman, Susan G. Komen's parents, makes this transition especially meaningful,” Jordan Clum, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen Central Illinois, said. “While we honor that legacy, we are excited to begin a new era at Dozer Park alongside the Peoria Chiefs. Their partnership represents the future of our event, and we look forward to creating new memories while continuing our mission to support those impacted by breast cancer throughout Central Illinois."
The move to Dozer Park provides opportunities to enhance the participant experience of the event in a vibrant gathering place while maintaining the sense of community, celebration and purpose that has defined the Peoria Walk for over four decades.
The event coincides with a home game for the Chiefs, as the team will host the Beloit Sky Carp later that evening.
Additional details on the 2027 Peoria MORE THAN PINK walk will be announced at a later date.
