Visalia, Calif. – The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (21-33, 57-63) ran into a Visalia Rawhide (23-31, 51-69) team that could do no wrong on Sunday afternoon at Valley Strong Ballpark as they ended up on the wrong side of a 20-2 scoreline.
The Rawhide opened the contest by producing a pair of crooked numbers. They sent 10 batters to the plate in each of the first two frames, scoring five times in the first and seven more in the second, establishing a 12-0 lead early on.
Rancho Cucamonga received all their offense in the fifth inning, cutting their deficit to 10. Anyelo Marquez launched a solo home run off the scoreboard in left-center field, and following base hits from Jonathan Linares and Jaxon Willits, Angel Arredondo legged out an infield single, bringing in Linares to cap off a multi-run frame.
Visalia, though, immediately canceled out the pair with a three-spot in their next turn at the dish, and after two scoreless innings, their bats roared back to life. They tacked on another run in the sixth before notching two tallies in both the seventh and eighth, rounding out their offensive explosion to seal a comfortable win.
The Quakes return to Morongo Field on Tuesday at 6:30 PM to begin their final home series of the season against the Lake Elsinore Storm. Fans are greeted back in Rancho Cucamonga on Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday and Two Dollar Tuesday.
