(Reading, PA) - Major League Baseball announced on Monday that Bryan Rincon (Designated Hitter) and Alex McFarlane (Relief Pitcher) were named as Eastern League All-Stars.
Rincon, 22, appeared in 118 games this season, slashing .267/.410/.517 (.927 OPS). The shortstop added 92 runs, 24 doubles, two triples, 26 home runs and stole 30 bases in 34 total attempts. Amongst qualified Eastern League hitters, Rincon posted the following rankings: 10th AVG (.267), T-1st HR (26), 1st OBP (.410), 2nd SLG (.517), 1st OPS (.927), T-8th 2B (24), 1st BB (95), T-3rd XBH (52), 4th total bases (219) and 2nd runs scored (92). Rincon also lifted 10 leadoff home runs this season, which led all of Minor League Baseball. This was Rincon's first season in Double-A, as he spent the majority of 2024 and '25 with Jersey Shore (A+). He spent the majority of 2023 with Clearwater (A) and began his pro career in 2022 with the FCL-Phillies (ROK). The Phillies selected Rincon in the 14th round of the 2022 draft out of Shaler Area High School in Pittsburgh.
The 25-year-old McFarlane appeared in 32 games with the Fightin Phils this season before his promotion to Philadelphia. McFarlane posted a 1-1 record, with a 2.06 ERA (8 ER, 35.0 IP), along with 47 strikeouts (12.09 SO/9.0 IP). He was recalled to the Phillies on Apr. 24, but did not appear in a game, and was optioned to Reading the following day. McFarlane was again recalled to Philadelphia on July 20, ending his strong tenure with the Fightin Phils. Previously a starting pitcher, McFarlane appeared in 28 games between Jersey Shore and Reading in 2025, making 18 starts. The right-handed pitcher did not pitch in 2024 and appeared in 19 games between 2022 and '23 with Clearwater. The native of St. Thomas, USVI, was selected by the Phillies in the fourth round of the 2022 draft out of Miami.
Reading returns to the field on Tuesday against the Erie SeaWolves at 6:45 p.m. for game two of the Eastern League Championship Series. Pregame radio coverage is underway at 6:25 p.m. on the Reading Fightin Phils Radio Network. A video stream is available via MiLB TV or the Bally Live App.
