Carson DeMartini Named Eastern League Player of the Week

Phillies No. 24 Prospect Posted 1.496 OPS Over Six Games Last Week

(Reading, PA) - Major League Baseball announced on Monday that Reading Fightin Phils infielder Carson DeMartini was named the Eastern League Player of the Week, following Reading's series win over Erie.

Over six games, DeMartini slashed .444/.607/.889 (1.496 OPS), along with nine runs scored, two doubles, two home runs, and seven RBI. The 23-year-old also drew eight walks to seven strikeouts during the week. DeMartini had three multi-hit games last week, including three on Thursday and two in each game on Saturday and Sunday. He also scored three runs on Thursday and Sunday.

For the week, DeMartini held the following Eastern League ranks: 3rd average (.444), T-2nd RBI (7), 1st on-base percentage (.607), 4th slugging percentage (.889), 1st OPS (1.496), 4th hits (8), 1st walks (8), T-3rd extra-base hits (4), third total bases (16), and first runs scored (9).

Over 55 games this season, DeMartini has slashed .286/.421/.508 (.929 OPS), along with 11 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 30 RBI, and 18 stolen bases. The Phillies No. 24 prospect was on the 7-day injured list from May 7 to July 28 and has hit .298 (28-94) since his return, with a .472 on-base percentage and 1.057 OPS. 

DeMartini split his first full-professional season between Jersey Shore (A+) and Reading, appearing in 119 total games. He appeared in 24 games for Clearwater (A) in 2024. The Phillies drafted DeMartini, a native of Virginia Beach, in the fourth round of the 2024 draft out of Virginia Tech.
