Flying Squirrels Ignite Summer Music Series with Grateful Dead Night at CarMax Park

Tie-Dye Jerseys, Bucket Hats Make CarMax Park Debut

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Flying Squirrels will host “Grateful Dead Night” Sunday at CarMax Park as a part of the season-long Summer Music Series.

The FUNN begins before the game, The Hasberry Collective will perform pre-game and the first 2,500 fans through the gate will receive a limited-edition Flying Squirrels tie-dye terry cloth bucket hat. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. and first pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.

Richmond will don custom tie dye jerseys which will be auctioned off following the game, benefitting Flying Squirrels Charities.

The auction, found at FlyingSquirrelsAuctions.com, is open now and the jerseys will be available for bidding until August 27, at 9:00 p.m.

The Grateful Dead formed in the mid-1960s and released its first album in 1976. Seven of the band’s albums have been certified platinum by the RIAA, and The Grateful Dead received the Grammy’s lifetime achievement award in 2007.

Fans can also arrive early for Signature Sunday in The Backstop from 3:45 p.m. – 4:15 p.m., where two Flying Squirrels will sign autographs.

Following the game, fans will be invited to the field for a Post-Game Catch, bring your own ball or borrow one from us!
