RICHMOND Va. – The Richmond Flying Squirrels will return as Las Ardillas Voladoras on Friday night for the second time this season when they face the Binghamton Rumble Ponies Friday night.
Richmond last wore its Copa de la Diversión look on April 24, against the Somerset Patriots (Zorros de Somerset) at CarMax Park.
Las Ardillas Voladoras trailed 6-5 in the bottom of the ninth when Drew Cavanaugh launched a pinch-hit, two-strike, two-out, walk-off home run to lift Richmond to a 7-6 victory.
The team had a flair for dramatics last season while playing as Las Ardillas Voladoras.
In The Diamond’s farewell campaign, the Flying Squirrels posted three of their five walk-off wins in the Ardillas Voladoras uniforms.
The walk-off winners started on May 2, only the second time that season Richmond donned the look in 2025, when Aeverson Arteaga walked off Somerset in extra innings.
On June 27, Jario Pomares powered Las Ardillas Voladoras to its second game-winner with a pinch-hit, three-run home run to beat Reading.
Arteaga and company did it once more in 2025 when the infielder laced an RBI single to walk off Portland on July 25.
Since Richmond refreshed its Copa de la Diversión look at the start of 2025, Las Ardillas Volodoras are 6-1 with four walk-off victories.
