HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Richmond Flying Squirrels lost to the Harrisburg Senators, 4-2, on Tuesday night to open their 13-game road trip.
The Flying Squirrels (63-44, 20-19 second half) went 3-for-14 with runners in scoring position and left 12 on base in the first game of their seven-game set against the Senators (55-53, 21-18).
Trevor Cohen opened the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the second inning against Alex Clemmey (Win, 4-6), one of his four hits in the game. Later in the inning, Dayson Croes drove in a run with a groundout to open a 2-0 lead.
Harrisburg closed the score to 2-1 with a groundout by Ethan Petry in the bottom of the second.
In the fourth, Elijah Green tied the score with a solo homer and Petry gave the Senators a 4-2 lead with a two-run homer.
Greg Farone (Loss, 5-9) threw six innings and allowed four runs (two earned) with four strikeouts. Marquis Johnson threw two scoreless relief innings.
Joe Glassey (Save, 1) threw a 1-2-3 ninth inning to end the game, the only frame the Flying Squirrels did not strand at least one baserunner.
The series continues with a doubleheader on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at FNB Field.
