
The Rochester Red Wings (29-20) looked to pick up their seventh straight win on Friday against the Worcester Red Sox (23-24) for the first time this season. Back-to-back homers from 1B Abimelec Ortiz and CF Andrew Pinckney in the first inning propelled Rochester to a 5-0 lead before the WooSox came to bat, and the Red Wings offense never looked back en route to a 12-1 victory. Ortiz launched another homer in the sixth to cap off his eighth career multi-homer game. 3B Brady House tied his career-high with four hits at the plate, going 4-for-6 with a double, three RBI and a run scored. Each of the first six hitters in the Red Wings lineup turned in a multi-hit performance.

LF Christian Franklin led off the first with his sixth double of the season, a towering drive into the left-center field gap. DH Yohandy Morales mirrored his teammate with a double of his own, as the Red Wings took a 1-0 lead early. Brady House singled in the following at-bat to bring Morales home, and give the Wings a 2-0 lead. The very next batter, Abimelec Ortiz crushed his fifth homer of the season, a two-run shot to right field that made the score 4-0 early in the game. After a mound visit, Andrew Pinckney hit his sixth homer of the year 426 feet, off of an exit velocity of 108.4 MPH, giving the Wings a 5-0 lead on back-to-back home runs.
Franklin led off the top of the fourth, hitting a single to center field. He came around to score on C Harry Ford’s sixth double of the season, a shot to left-center that extended the Red Wings lead to 6-0.
Red Sox 3B Max Ferguson led off the bottom of the fifth with a walk. He then advanced to second on a fielding error, off the bat of DH Matt Thaiss. With runners on first and second, Red Sox RF Braiden Ward lined a sharp single to right field, allowing Worcester to score its first run of the night and cut the Wings’ lead to 6–1.
With two outs in the top of the sixth Ford walked to first, then advanced to second on a Morales single. Ortiz crushed his second homer of the night 397 feet, off of an exit velocity of 113.8 MPH extending the Wing’s lead to 9-1.
SS Trey Lipscomb hit his 10th double of the year in the top of the ninth, and Franklin walked to give the Red Wings runners on first and second. Lipscomb scored to give the Wings a 10-1 lead on a single from Morales, his third hit of the night. House doubled to bring in Franklin and Morales, giving the Wings a 12-1 lead.
Worcester was unable to muster a threat in the bottom half of the ninth, handing the Red Wings their seventh-straight, and 12th victory in their last 13 games.
RHP Jack Sinclar started the bullpen game for Rochester Friday evening. The UCF alumni turned in 2.0 innings, striking out as many batters and giving up no hits across six batters faced. RHP Holden Powell replaced Sinclar, going 2.1 innings, giving up three walks, two hits, striking out two, giving up one run. RHP Luke Young entered the game for Rochester with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. Young went 1.1 innings with one walk and one strikeout. The fourth pitcher on the night for the Wings was LHP PJ Poulin making his Red Wings debut, pitching 1.0 hitless inning, and walking one batter. RHP Trever Gott came in for the bottom of the eighth. The Kentucky native pitched 1.0 inning with one walk and one strikeout, allowing one hit. RHP Zak Kent closed out the ninth for the Wings, retiring all three batters he faced on 14 pitches.
The Rochester Red Wings Player of the Game today is 1B Abimelec Ortiz. The Florida Southwestern State Alumni hit two home runs and brought in five of the Red Wings runs, going 2-for-5 while adding a walk. Ortiz has now picked up nine RBI in the last three games, and now leads the team with 32 this season.
Rochester will play game five of the series against the Red Sox Saturday afternoon at 4:05 p.m., as they will look to extend their winning streak to eight games for the first time since 2022. LHP Jackson Kent is scheduled to make his Triple-A debut on the mound for the Red Wings.
