The Rochester Red Wings (41-28, 86-56) closed out their 2026 home schedule with a 6-4 victory over the Scranton/WB RailRiders (38-29, 75-66) Sunday afternoon at ESL Ballpark. 2B Liover Peguero drove in three runs, breaking a 3-3 tie with an RBI single in the fifth before adding a two-run double in the seventh. Rochester maintained its hold on first place in the International League second half standings entering the final week of the regular season.

SS Seaver King opened the bottom of the first with an infield single, advanced to second on a throwing error and moved to third on a flyout. DH Cayden Wallace and C Riley Adams drew consecutive two-out walks to load the bases before RF Leandro Pineda delivered an RBI infield single, giving Rochester a 1-0 lead.
The RailRiders responded in the top of the second after DH Yanquiel Fernández led off with a single to center. SS Oswaldo Cabrera followed with a two-run homer to center, putting Scranton/WB ahead 2-1.
With two outs in the bottom of the second, Seaver King singled to center and 1B Buddy Kennedy followed with an infield single that sent King to third. LF Trey Lipscomb then reached on a fielder's choice, and Cabrera's throwing error allowed King to score the tying run.
After play resumed in the top of the fourth, Cabrera broke the 2-2 tie with his second home run of the afternoon, a solo shot to right-center that put Scranton/WB ahead 3-2.
Rochester pulled even again in the bottom of the fourth. CF Sam Petersen opened the inning with a single to right and 3B Cortland Lawson walked before a forceout put runners on the corners. Buddy Kennedy then lifted a sacrifice fly to center that scored Petersen and tied the game at 3-3.
Rochester moved back in front in the bottom of the fifth. Riley Adams doubled to left with one out and advanced to third on Pineda's groundout before Liover Peguero lined an RBI single to right, giving the Red Wings a 4-3 lead.
Rochester added two insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh after Trey Lipscomb reached on a fielding error and advanced to second on a groundout. Riley Adams followed with a walk before Liover Peguero lined a two-out, two-run double to left, extending the Red Wings' lead to 6-3.
Scranton/WB cut into the lead in the top of the eighth after RF Kenedy Corona reached on a throwing error and CF Jarred Kelenic walked. Following a strikeout, C J.C. Escarra lined an RBI single to left that scored Corona and moved Kelenic to second. The inning ended with consecutive strikeouts, limiting the RailRiders to one run and preserving Rochester's 6-4 advantage.
The score remained the same heading into the bottom of the ninth. Despite allowing the bases to be loaded, the Red Wings persevered and picked up a two-run victory.
RHP Zak Kent made the start for Rochester and allowed two earned runs on three hits over 3.0 innings, striking out four and walking one. RHP Paxton Schultz followed with 2.0 innings of one-run ball, yielding one hit and striking out one to earn the win and improve to 2-0. RHP Jake Bird and RHP Joe Glassey combined for 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two, while RHP Kyle Nicolas struck out three in the eighth and allowed one unearned run. RHP Gus Varland recorded the first two outs of the ninth before RHP Justin Lawrence entered with the bases loaded and struck out the only batter he faced to secure his second save. Rochester's staff finished with 12 strikeouts and allowed three earned runs on seven hits.
2B Liover Peguero went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI, producing half of Rochester's runs and driving in all three with two outs to win this afternoon’s Player of the Game. His fifth-inning single to right scored Riley Adams to break a 3-3 tie, and his two-run double to left in the seventh supplied the eventual winning margin. The double was his 25th of the season.
Following Monday's league-wide off day, Rochester will open its final series of the regular season Tuesday night against Buffalo at Sahlen Field. With Sunday's victory, the Red Wings will maintain their hold on first place in the International League second half standings entering the final week. First pitch of the six-game series opener is set for 6:05 p.m.
