ROCHESTER, NY - The Rochester Red Wings have announced their 2027 Regular-Season schedule, featuring 150 games set to begin Friday, March 26, at ESL Ballpark against the Syracuse Mets. The date will mark the earliest scheduled home opener in team history and begin the Red Wings’ 137th season as a member of the International League.
The 150-game slate will fittingly coincide with the 150th anniversary of professional baseball in Rochester. The city’s first professional club, known simply as the “Rochesters,” joined the International Association in 1877 and played at Union Street Grounds near the present-day Rochester Public Market. The 2027 season will also mark 70 years since the Red Wings’ first community-owned season in 1957 and 30 years since Red Wings baseball debuted at the club’s current downtown ballpark in 1997.
The March 26 opener will come five days earlier than the previous earliest home start of March 31, first established in 2023 and matched in 2026. Rochester will open a season at home for just the third time in the current ballpark era and for the first time since 2023.
For the 15th time since 1928, the Red Wings will open their season against Syracuse, playing a three-game Easter weekend series from March 26-28. It will be the first time Syracuse has served as Rochester’s Home Opener opponent since 2018. The 2027 season will conclude Sunday, September 19, on the road against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Yankees). Rochester’s final home game is scheduled for Sunday, September 12, against the Worcester Red Sox (Red Sox).
The schedule is built around 24 six-game series, with two three-game sets mixed in: the season-opening series against Syracuse and a three-game trip to Buffalo immediately following the Triple-A midseason break. The Red Wings will play 75 games at ESL Ballpark and 75 on the road.
The New York Mets’ top affiliate will battle the Red Wings 21 times in 2027. Following the opening weekend at ESL Ballpark, Syracuse returns to Rochester from April 20-25. The Wings will travel east on the New York State Thruway for a series from May 25-30 and August 31-September 5.
Rochester will also face the Buffalo Bisons (Blue Jays) 21 times. The Bisons visit ESL Ballpark from April 6-11 and June 22-27, while Rochester travels to Sahlen Field from April 27-May 2 and for a three-game set from July 16-18. In all, the Wings will play 42 games against their Buffalo and Syracuse Thruway rivals, accounting for 28 percent of the schedule.
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Phillies), Worcester Red Sox and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders will each face Rochester 24 times. The Wings host Lehigh Valley from May 4-9 and August 10-15, Worcester from July 27-August 1 and September 6 and 8-12, and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre from July 6-11 and August 24-29.
Rochester will travel to Lehigh Valley from April 13-18 and July 20-25. The Red Wings visit Worcester from June 29-July 4 and August 17-22, and make trips to Moosic, Pennsylvania, from August 3-8 and September 14-19. The Labor Day series against Worcester will begin Monday, September 6, followed by an off day Tuesday before resuming Wednesday through Sunday.
The Red Wings will face five additional opponents for a total of 36 inter-division games. Rochester opens its road schedule at Durham (Rays) from March 30-April 4, marking the Wings’ first visit to Durham Bulls Athletic Park since 2019.
Rochester and Jacksonville (Marlins) will play a six-game home-and-home, with the Wings traveling to Florida from May 11-16 before the Jumbo Shrimp visit ESL Ballpark from June 1-6.
The St. Paul Saints (Twins) return to Rochester from May 18-23 for their first visit since 2024 and third trip to the Flower City as a Triple-A franchise. The series reconnects the Red Wings with Minnesota’s current top affiliate after Rochester’s 18-season affiliation with the Twins from 2003-2020.
The Red Wings will travel to Omaha (Royals) from June 8-13. The series will mark only Rochester’s second trip to Omaha since 1990, following a 2026 visit that ended a 36-year absence. The Charlotte Knights (White Sox) round out the home slate’s inter-division opponents with a six-game series from June 15-20.
The Charlotte series begins Rochester’s longest homestand of the season, a 12-game stretch that continues against Buffalo from June 22-27. Overall, the 75-game home schedule features 39 Friday-through-Sunday dates across 13 weekends.
The Triple-A midseason break is scheduled for July 12-15 and surrounds the 2027 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, set for Tuesday, July 13, at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Rochester returns to action with a three-game series in Buffalo before continuing to Lehigh Valley, forming a nine-game road trip.
