Infielder Hit .462 with Four Home Runs and 10 RBI During Six-Game Homestand

August 17th, 2026

ROCHESTER, NY – The Office of Major League Baseball has announced that Rochester Red Wings infielder TREY LIPSCOMB has been named the International League Player of the Week for the period of August 10–16.

Lipscomb turned in one of the International League’s top offensive performances of the season, going 12-for-26 (.462) with four home runs, two doubles, 10 RBI and eight runs scored across six games against the Charlotte Knights. He led the league in home runs and total bases (26), tied for first in RBI, tied for second in slugging percentage (1.000), ranked third in OPS (1.462) and fourth in batting average.

The 26-year-old recorded a hit in all six games and collected three multi-hit performances, helping Rochester win four of six and close the series with three consecutive victories. His week was highlighted by a 3-for-4 performance on Saturday, August 15, when he launched two home runs and drove in four in a 5-2 Red Wings victory. Lipscomb homered again in Sunday’s series finale, giving him three home runs and six RBI over the final two games of the homestand.

Through games of August 16, Lipscomb is batting .298 with 23 doubles, 25 home runs, 77 RBI and an .890 OPS across 104 games for Rochester.

This marks Lipscomb’s first International League Player of the Week honor and the third weekly award of his professional career. He was named South Atlantic League Player of the Week with High-A Wilmington and Eastern League Player of the Week with Double-A Harrisburg in 2023. That season, he was also selected as Washington’s Minor League Defensive Player of the Year and received the Rawlings Minor League Gold Glove Award at third base.

A native of Frederick, Maryland, Lipscomb was selected by Washington in the third round of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Tennessee. He made his Major League debut with the Nationals on March 30, 2024.

Lipscomb becomes the first Red Wing to earn International League Player of the Week honors since Andrés Chaparro received the award from May 26 to June 1, 2025.
