“After a great showing last year, we’re excited to host Coach Davis and welcome back Coach Schlossnagle for some fall baseball at Dell Diamond,” Express President Chris Almendarez said. “It’s going to be a great opportunity for fans to get a peek of what’s to come for the two teams in 2027.”
The Texas Longhorns are coming off their NCAA-leading 39th College World Series appearance in 2026. In head coach Jim Schlossnagle’s second year at the helm, the Longhorns finished with a 46-15 record and saw four student-athletes receive All-American honors from D1Baseball, tying Georgia Tech for the most in the nation.
The Cougars begin a new chapter with the hiring of Will Davis as Houston’s ninth baseball head coach. Davis won 289 games across 10 seasons as the head coach for the Lamar Cardinals, becoming the second-winningest coach in program history. Houston posted a 24-31 mark in 2026 with three All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selections.
The two teams have met 136 times since the first matchup on May 30, 1958. The Longhorns hold a 99-35-2 record over the Cougars in their 68-year history. Houston took the most recent matchup with a 9-7 victory on March 24 at Schroeder Park.
