
ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Texas Rangers announced their Minor League Award Winners for the month of July on Sunday morning. Round Rock Express INF John Taylor has earned the title of Defender of the Month after turning in a perfect fielding percentage across 197.0 innings and 71 total chances at six different positions (first base, second base, third base, shortstop, leftfield and centerfield).
Taylor also posted a .299/.380/.483 slash line with three doubles, two triples and three home runs while leading the E-Train in RBI (20), plate appearances (101) and games (23) in July.
The utility man signed a minor league contract with the Rangers on June 12, 2025. After just 98 games and 406 plate appearances, Taylor made his Triple-A debut with Round Rock on May 29. He also made a start in rightfield for the Express on June 19 at Las Vegas, joining INF Matt Kata, the 2026 Round Rock Express Hall of Fame inductee, as one of four players in the club’s history to appear at seven different positions in an Express uniform.
