TACOMA, WASH. - Salt Lake’s offense erupted early, scoring 14 runs through the first three innings before cruising to a dominant 16-1 win over Tacoma on Wednesday night. The Bees pounded out 16 runs to even the six-game series at 1-1 and win their first game at Cheney Stadium in two years.

Game Summary
Salt Lake came ready to play immediately in the first inning as Nelson Rada lined a leadoff single into right field to begin the action. Kyren Paris worked a walk behind him before Pablo Reyes laid down a sacrifice bunt that resulted in a throwing error, allowing Rada to come around and score the game’s first run.
Paris then scored from third on a double play to extend the Bees’ lead to 2-0. Yolmer Sánchez followed suit, lining an RBI single into right to give Salt Lake a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
Bees starter Caden Dana posted a zero in the bottom of the frame, and the Bees added four more runs in the top of the second thanks to another throwing error, a Paris sacrifice fly, and Jeimer Candelario’s 14th homer of the season. The four-run inning extended Salt Lake’s lead to 7-0 heading into the bottom of the second.
Tacoma chipped away at the Bees’ lead with a run in the bottom of the second, as Salt Lake carried a 7-1 advantage into the third inning.
Salt Lake answered right back in the top half of the third, putting seven more runs on the board to build a 14-1 cushion. The big inning included RBI singles from Cade Marlowe, Rada, Candelario, and Ben Gobbel, a wild pitch scoring Logan Porter, a bases-loaded walk by Raudi Rodriguez, and a Sánchez RBI groundout.
The score remained unchanged until the top of the seventh inning, when Salt Lake padded its lead with two additional runs on a Rodriguez RBI single and an RBI groundout from Sánchez, extending the Bees' advantage to 16-1 entering the bottom half of the frame.
Both pitching staffs exchanged scoreless frames down the stretch until Kaleb Ort secured the final three outs, sealing a dominant Salt Lake win to even the series at 1-1.
Game Notes
- Salt Lake put an end to their 12-game losing streak at Cheney Stadium, winning tonight for the first time since August 2, 2024 in an 11-6 decision. In both victories, the Bees used a solid pitching effort backed up with a dominant, comprehensive, double-digit offensive night. It is Salt Lake’s first road Wednesday win since June 24 at Albuquerque where they won 9-1; it snaps a streak of three straight defeats in that situation.
- Salt Lake also secured at least a season split against the Rainiers with their ninth win over Tacoma in 2026. One more win this week in the PNW would secure the season series for the first time since 2023, when Salt Lake took 13 of 24 games against the Mariners’ top affiliate.
- The Bees have left the yard in a season-long 10 straight games, the longest active streak in the Pacific Coast League and second best in Triple-A. It is the club’s best stretch since a 12-game streak between June 13-26, 2025, in which they tallied 28 homers over that stretch. This season, Salt Lake has hit 18 homers over their current streak, with five of those coming from Jeimer Candelario.
- Salt Lake’s 14 runs in the first three innings is tied for the most runs scored through three innings since July 23, 2011 vs. Tacoma. The Bees’ 16 total runs tied Albuquerque on June 12 for most runs scored inside Cheney Stadium by any team this season. Tonight’s output is the largest away from home for Salt Lake this season and most since a 17-run total on July 30, 2024 also at Tacoma. It is the 11th time (since 2005) the Bees have tallied 16+ runs in a road game.
- All nine batters in Salt Lake’s lineup recorded at least one hit. Seven of those Bees recorded RBIs and seven of them had multiple hits. Wednesday marked the second time seven or more Bees have tallied a multi-hit ledger in the same game, with a high of eight hitters doing so on May 1 vs. Sacramento. Tonight’s seven hitters (Rada, Paris, Reyes, Candelario, Sánchez, Marlowe, and Porter) are the first to accomplish the feat on the road in 2026.
- Salt Lake matched its highest hit total in a game's opening three frames since June 5 of last year against Round Rock by connecting for 11 hits through the first three innings. It is just the third time (since 2005) that the Bees have accomplished this feat on the road. Salt Lake is the fourth PCL team this season to record at least 11 hits through the first three innings. Albuquerque had 11 against Sacramento on July 18, while Las Vegas recorded 12 vs. Reno on June 6 and El Paso tallied 12 against Las Vegas on July 26.
- In his 20th start of the season, right-hander Caden Dana made quick work of the Rainiers lineup, firing five efficient innings of one-run ball. Over a 68-pitch performance, he allowed just a single hit while striking out three and walking two. The outing pushed Dana past 155 career Triple-A strikeouts and brought his season total to 72, crossing the 70-strikeout mark on the year. The Bees are 25-25 (.500) when their starting pitcher goes at least five innings on the mound, improving to 11-15 on the road.
- After his seven-game hit streak was snapped in last night’s loss, Nelson Rada righted the ship immediately with a leadoff line-drive single into right field. The knock was his 115th of the season, as he has now recorded a hit in seven of his last nine games. Rada came around to score his 120th run at the Triple-A level. The newly turned 21-year-old scored Salt Lake's ninth run of the game with an RBI single, marking his second hit of the night. Rada has now driven in a run in two of his previous three outings.
- Kyren Paris walked in his first at-bat of the game. The infielder has reached base in five of his last six games. Paris has also walked in two of his last three games. Tonight’s shortstop singled with two outs in the fourth and ended his hitless skid after two games. Paris has hits in 14 of his 19 games played in August. The Californian knocked his 14th double into the left field corner to give him a multi-hit game.
- Jeimer Candelario blasted his 14th homer of the season, extending his home run streak to a career-long four straight games. The infielder is one of two PCL players with a four-game home run streak this season, joining Oklahoma City’s James Tibbs III (May 28-31). He is the first Bee to hit a home run in four consecutive games since Keston Hiura from June 27-30, 2024. Candelario owns a five-game hit and run-scoring streak amidst his power surge. He has multiple hits in four consecutive games, batting 10-for-16 (.625) over that span. Tonight’s third baseman has now reached base in 13 straight games. Candelario picked up the 185th career walk at Triple-A and finished with three free passes. He also tallied three RBI tonight in an offensive surge. Candelario picked up his first career game with three walks and three runs in the same game.
- Yolmer Sánchez lined a single to the pull side in his first at-bat, driving in Salt Lake’s third run. The veteran has hits in consecutive games and four of his last five games. Sánchez also has RBIs in consecutive games and in three of his last four games. The Venezuelan kept things rolling with a leadoff triple to start the third inning. Sánchez’ three-bagger was his second of the season and first since 5/22 against Tacoma. With three multi-hit games in his past five outings, he now has logged seven multi-hit games during August.
- To lead off the second, Cade Marlowe singled into center. The outfielder has reached base safely in eight straight games and has hits in consecutive games. Marlowe proceeded to swipe his 29th base of the year after reaching base. In his second plate appearance, the Tifton, Georgia native delivered again with another single, driving in Salt Lake’s eighth run of the contest. This marked Marlowe’s first multi-hit performance over his past four outings.
- Logan Porter finished with three hits for the first time since May 20 as a member of Sacramento against Sugar Land. After two games of not reaching base, Logan Porter worked a walk in his first at-bat. The free pass was Porter’s first since his two walk day on 8/16 in El Paso. Porter singled in his second at-bat and would later come around to score Salt Lake’s 10th run of the game in the third inning. The catcher snapped a two-game hitless skid on the base knock.
- Following a sac-bunt in his first at-bat, Pablo Reyes lined a single into left field. The veteran has reached base and has hits in eight straight games with his hit streak being a new season high. Reyes scored four times tonight, doing so for the third time in his pro career (August 3, 2018 with Indianapolis; May 21, 2022 with Nashville; and tonight). The designated hitter leads the PCL with a .419 average in the month of August, and it ranks as the fifth best monthly average this season by a PCL hitter (min. 40 AB).
- In the third frame, Raudi Rodriguez drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in Salt Lake’s 12th run, marking his ninth RBI of the campaign. The outfielder has now drawn a walk in 10 of his 16 appearances with the Bees this year. Rodriguez later became the ninth Bee to record a hit, coming through with an RBI single in the seventh inning to push Salt Lake’s lead to 16 runs. The new Bee has now recorded hits in consecutive games and in 12 of his 16 games played with Salt Lake.
- In the third inning, Ben Gobbel delivered an RBI single in his third plate appearance, driving in Salt Lake’s 14th run of the game. The hit marked his 50th of his Triple-A season and extended his active streak of recording a hit and reaching base to six consecutive games.
- In his lone inning of work, righty Jared Southard limited the opposition to a single hit while striking out two. The outing marked his fifth consecutive scoreless appearance, extending his scoreless streak to 7.1 innings.
- In one inning of work, right-hander Alex Faedo held the Rainiers scoreless while striking out two batters. He faced the minimum thanks to a baserunner who was thrown out at second attempting to stretch a single into a double. With this outing, Faedo extended his scoreless streak to 3.1 consecutive innings across three appearances.
- Closing out the victory for Salt Lake, Kaleb Ort tossed a scoreless ninth inning with a strikeout in his 51st outing of the season. After seeing his six-game scoreless run snapped in his previous game, Ort bounced back strong to lock down the win.
