EL PASO, TEXAS. - The Bees fell 5-2 to the Chihuahuas on Wednesday, suffering their first loss of the series after El Paso broke a 2-2 tie with three runs over the final three innings.

Game Summary
The second game of the series opened with a scoreless first inning. In the top of the second, El Paso’s starter sat the side down in order. The Chihuahuas then struck against Bees starter Sam Aldegheri in the bottom half, crossing the plate twice via a double and a double steal to hand the home team a 2-0 lead after two frames.
Salt Lake answered back in the top of the third inning, putting up two runs to match the home squad. With two outs, Christian Moore singled for his second hit of the contest, and Nelson Rada reached safely on an error. Both Bees runners then stole a base, and a throwing error into left field allowed Moore to score. Rada came around to score moments later on a balk, leveling the game at two apiece.
The contest remained locked in a tie until the seventh inning, when El Paso’s Mason McCoy launched his ninth home run of the campaign with two outs to put the Chihuahuas ahead.
Carlos Rodríguez added insurance for El Paso in the eighth, bringing home the lead-off double with a single to push the lead to two. Nick Solak followed with his 20th double of the year to drive in Rodríguez, extending the Chihuahuas’ advantage to 5-2.
The Bees mounted a late threat by putting two runners aboard in the ninth, but Niko Kavadas grounded into a double play to end the rally, handing Salt Lake its first defeat of the series.
Game Notes
- Salt Lake falls to 6-10 in day games this season, losing all three of its midweek matinee contests in 2026 (L, 12-5 at OKC on Wed., May 6; L, 8-1 at ABQ on Thurs., June 25). Only one mid-week afternoon game remains with a scheduled 11:05 p.m. MDT first pitch on Thursday, September 26 at Albuquerque.
- The Bees have lost five straight games on Wednesday, including today. The last time Salt Lake was on the right side of a Wednesday matchup was July 1 vs. Las Vegas, when they shutout the Aviators 4-0 in South Jordan.
- Salt Lake moved to 9-8 when tossing a quality start and are 1-6 on the road when that mark is hit. Yesterday’s quality start from Caden Dana was the first time the Bees won a road game in which they also had a quality start. It is just the second time in 2026 that Salt Lake has put together consecutive quality starts, previously doing so on May 21 and 22 vs. Tacoma (Brett Kerry and Sam Aldegheri).
- The Bees hit into three double plays today, marking the first time they have rolled into three or more twin killings since July 21 vs. Omaha (four DPs). It is the 11th time Salt Lake has hit into 3+ double plays in 2026, holding a 4-6 record in such games.
- Sam Aldegheri captured his fourth quality start of the season and second straight start that has gone quality. He pitched six innings, surrendered two runs, walked two and struck out five. Aldegheri has recorded at least five strikeouts in four of his last five appearances. This season against El Paso, the Italian worked through the sixth in all three starts, compiling a total of 18.2 innings with 10 total strikeouts.
- Christian Moore kicked off the game with his 24th double to center field. Today's starting second baseman prolonged his on-base streak to 10 games, bringing him within five games of his season-high 15-game stretch. Moore went 3-for-4 giving him two three-hit ledgers over his last three games; he also has hit safely in four of his last five games. The infielder saw his walk streak come to an end today, halting at nine straight games with at least one free pass; he had 11 walks over that stretch.
- Outfielder Nelson Rada sparked a two-out rally in the third inning by reaching on an error, marking his fourth consecutive game reaching base safely. Immediately following his arrival on the basepaths, Rada stole his 32nd base of the year, claiming sole possession of the top spot in the PCL.
- Raudi Rodriguez started a new on-base streak as he worked a walk in the fourth inning. The new Bee has reached in six of the seven games he’s played with the Bees since he was called up a week ago.
- With two outs in the fifth inning, Ben Gobbel laced a single into left field. The nine-hitter has hits in two of his last three games. The knock was his 49th of his Triple-A career.
- Pablo Reyes opened the sixth inning with an infield single, extending his on-base streak to eight games and his hitting streak to four games. The veteran laced his 25th double of the season with two outs in the eighth. Reyes has three straight games with multiple hits, his longest streak since four straight two-hit efforts between July 17-21 earlier this season with the Bees. The former Chihuahua has three extra-base hits in his first two games back inside Southwest University Park, batting .370 (37-for-100) with 16 extra-base hits and 18 runs scored in 26 career games at the venue.
- Kyren Paris drew a walk with no outs in the sixth, extending his team-leading on-base streak to 29 games. It tied a personal season-high with one team, recording a 29-gamer with Double-A Rocket City in July 27 - August 30, 2023. That streak extended into his first three career MLB games for a combined 32 straight games he reached base safely.
- Making his return from the injured list, Bryce Teodosio led off the seventh inning with a hit-by-pitch. This marked his first time reaching base since July 30th, when he collected a single. Teodosio singled in the ninth giving him his first hit since that same game.
- Dillon Tate recorded just his second appearance with an earned run in his 12th game with Salt Lake. He tossed an inning while giving up an earned run, a homer, and striking out one on 13 pitches. Tate has been tagged with the loss in three straight appearances, a stretch he has allowed six earned runs in four innings of work.
- In today's performance, Rob Kaminsky allowed his first earned runs since August 1, yielding two earned runs on three hits over 16 pitches.
- In the ninth, Cade Marlowe reached base on an error with one out. Since arriving from Las Vegas, the newest Bee has now gotten aboard in two of his past three contests.
