SUGAR LAND, TEXAS. - The Bees carried a 3-2 lead into the ninth inning on Sunday. Strong pitching and timely hitting kept Salt Lake ahead for the majority of the night. A late rally by Sugar Land handed the Bees their seventh straight loss in heartbreaking fashion and completed a sweep by the hosts.

Game Summary
The final game of the six-game set started as a pitcher’s duel, with both starters trading zeroes through the first two innings. After Arol Vera lined a double to the opposite field, the Bees capitalized on the opportunity as Gustavo Campero delivered a two-out bloop single over the third baseman’s head to bring home the game’s first run and give Salt Lake a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the third.
Justin Dunn was welcomed to the mound with immediate trouble after Sammy Peralta’s three scoreless innings of work for Salt Lake. Pascanel Ferreras slugged his third homer of the season, scraping over the right-field wall to tie the game at one. Joey Loperfido continued the offensive surge with a double and later came around to score on a run-scoring single, giving the home squad its first lead of the game.
Salt Lake avenged their hurler in the top of the fifth. Logan Porter doubled to begin the inning and Vera reached on a walk. After a fielder’s choice out, Kyren Paris cashed in, doubling to the left-center wall to tie the score at two. With two outs in the inning, Niko Kavadas came through with an RBI single to give Salt Lake a 3-2 lead.
Zeroes flooded the scoreboard despite a scare for Salt Lake in the bottom of the seventh. The home squad got two runners on with no outs but Tayler Saucedo came in and shut the rally down.
Sugar Land came through when it mattered, scoring two in the bottom of the ninth to hand Salt Lake their seventh straight loss.
Game Notes
- Salt Lake lost its seventh straight game, their longest losing streak since eight consecutive between June 8 and June 17, 2025 (vs. Round Rock, at Las Vegas, vs. Sacramento). Salt Lake was swept this week, their second such result in 2026 and first in a six-game set. The last time the Bees were swept in a six-game series was June 10-15 at Las Vegas.
- The Bees struck out 16 times, their second most in a game this season (20 K, June 30 vs. Las Vegas). They have accumulated 10 or more strikeouts in seven consecutive games. Salt Lake has struck out 86 times this week, their most in a series this season (previous high: 64 K, June 30-July 5 vs. LV).
- Salt Lake managed five doubles tonight at Constellation Field, the franchise’s most in a single contest at the venue. It is also just the third time Salt Lake has hit five extra-base hits in the same game in Sugar Land (August 31, 2024; May 24, 2023). This is the first time since July 19 vs. Reno that the Bees have eclipsed five or more doubles.
- The Bees were walked off in three straight contests to close the series. Across their first 86 games, Salt Lake avoided a walk-off loss. In the 21 games since, the Bees have suffered 15 losses, four of those by walk-off and all in a different fashion (error on July 7 at Sacramento; passed ball on Friday; double on Saturday; single tonight).
- Making his first start since June 17 with Albuquerque, Sammy Peralta dazzled in three scoreless innings of work. The southpaw’s outing marked his longest since Sept. 3 of last season, when he tossed seven innings with Salt Lake. Peralta struck out four batters, his most since recording five punchouts on May 31 with the Isotopes, while allowing just two hits and keeping the Space Cowboys off the scoreboard.
- Following a four-hit performance that snapped a two game hitless streak a night ago, Gustavo Campero stayed hot in his first at-bat. The designated hitter lined a single into centerfield then immediately stole his first base as a Bee. Campero’s first inning swipe was his first at any level since May 16 with Rocket City. Campero gave the Bees their first run with a RBI single in the third. He batted 10-for-25 (.400) with three homers and six RBI this week in Texas.
- Ben Gobbel got back on track in his first at-bat after a hitless pinch-hit appearance in last night’s game. The infielder lined a one out single into centerfield in the second inning. He has hits in three of his last five games.
- With an out in the second inning, Cade Marlowe notched his first walk since July 24 against Omaha. He has reached base in seven of his last eight games. Marlowe was hit by a pitch in the ninth inning, his first as a Bee; he has three total in 2026.
- Logan Porter caught his 13th basestealer of the season and ninth with Salt Lake. The baker’s dozen is tied with four others for third most in the PCL. Porter led the fifth inning off with his second double as a Bee. He has hits in consecutive games.
- In his first at-bat since July 11, Arol Vera sprinkled a double down the left field line. It’s his first hit since the game on the 11th. Vera’s double was his third of the season, all of which have come on Sundays.
- Nelson Rada tallied his third outfield assist of the campaign in the fourth, uncorking a throw home to get Raynel Delgado trying to score. It was Salt Lake's 20th outfield assist in 2026, and Rada’s three ties him with Yolmer Sánchez for most among active Bees.
- Kyren Paris doubled to tie the game at two in the fifth inning. The two-bagger was Paris’ 13th of the campaign. Paris has hits in three of his last five games and sits just four hits away from 100 at the Triple-A level.
- With two outs in the fifth inning, Niko Kavadas came through with an RBI single to give Salt Lake a 3-2 lead. The first baseman has now recorded hits in consecutive games and in four of his last five contests. Kavadas’ run-scoring hit marked his sixth RBI of the series after his grand slam in last night’s game accounted for four. He now has 210 RBIs at the Triple-A level.
- Leading off the top of the sixth, veteran Yolmer Sánchez cracked a double down the left field line. The two-bagger, which marks the 314th of his professional career, effectively snapped a two-game hitless skid and served as his 21st double of the season.
- Justin Dunn notched three strikeouts for the second consecutive game, tossing two innings of relief. The right-hander has now recorded three punchouts in three of his last four appearances.
- Houston Harding’s one inning outing was his shortest since June 18 against Tacoma. He lasted just one inning while walking two.
- Tayler Saucedo navigated the traffic Harding left him in during the seventh inning, stranding two runners on base. In his two innings of work, he struck out one batter while not allowing a run for the third straight appearance.
- Making his second appearance in his first trip back to Constellation Field was Kaleb Ort. The righty gave up three singles, including the walk-off two-run base knock and was saddled with the loss. This week in Sugar Land, Ort recorded one out, allowed five hits, five runs (all earned) and walked three.
