Game Summary

Reno jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the opening frame after a leadoff single led to the game's first run via a sacrifice fly to center field.

In the bottom of the second, Raudi Rodriguez beat out an infield single after a leadoff lineout. Jeimer Candelario then ripped a triple—his sixth of the year—into the gap in right-center to bring Rodriguez home for Salt Lake’s first run.

Yolmer Sánchez followed by driving Candelario in with a two-run home run onto the right-field berm, pushing the Bees ahead 3-1. Salt Lake kept the rally going with a walk by Cade Marlowe and a single from Nelson Rada. Kyren Paris then delivered an RBI single up the middle, stretching the Bees' early advantage to 4-1.

Salt Lake starter Ryan Costeiu put up another scoreless frame in the top of the third before Candelario delivered once more, driving an opposite-field home run into the bullpen seats. The blast stretched the Bees' cushion to 6-1 through three innings.

Following a strikeout to start the frame, Salt Lake put together some two-out magic. Rada drew a walk and swiped second before Paris launched his 13th big fly of the year to bring him around, extending the Bees' lead to 8-1 through four innings.

Leading off the bottom of the fifth inning, Rodriguez launched a solo home run to right-center field for his third hit of the night, extending the Salt Lake advantage to 9-1.

Salt Lake scored for the fifth straight inning which came in the bottom of the sixth. Two straight singles and a walk led to a Logan Porter groundout that plated the Bees 10th run of the game.

Salt Lake built an 11-1 lead entering the eighth inning after Kyren Paris knocked a two-out RBI single to right field to score the Bees' 11th run of the night.

Alex Faedo and Dillon Tate capped off the victory with scoreless relief appearances, keeping the score frozen and securing at least a series split for Salt Lake.

Game Notes

  • The Bees captured their 15th win on Friday night this season, moving to 15-7 on the day of the week and 8-4 at home. Salt Lake is two wins away from matching the all-time record for wins on a single day in a season (Fridays in 2005, 17-7 record).
  • Salt Lake hit a home run in four consecutive innings tonight, thanks to Yolmer Sánchez (2nd inning), Jeimer Candelario (3rd inning), Kyren Paris (4th inning) and Raudi Rodriguez (5th inning). It is the first time the Bees have accomplished this since September 5, 2023 vs. Tacoma in a 7-6 walk-off win. Zach Neto, Jared Oliva, David Fletcher and Brett Phillips were responsible for the quad of longballs in that one homering in order over the first four innings. This season, the Bees are 4-1 when hitting four homers and undefeated in their three home matchups. The Bees are now 26-11 overall and 17-7 at home when they hit two or more homers in a game. It’s the first time since June 12 in Reno that Salt Lake slugged four homer
  • Salt Lake’s bullpen pitched another shutout, marking their fourth straight game without allowing an earned run, a streak that spans 20.2 innings in relief and dates back to Sunday, August 16 at EL Paso. Additionally, the arm barn has yielded two earned runs or fewer in seven consecutive games. Over its last seven games since Aug. 14, Bees relievers are 4-0 with a 1.34 ERA, ranking first in the PCL and Triple-A over that stretch. Salt Lake’s bullpen is second in the PCL with 40 strikeouts in that span.
  • Ryan Costeiu was masterful in his third start as a Bee. The right-hander earned his first quality start at any level since July 1 with Rocket City. Costeiu struck out his most batters with Salt Lake (3) in his six inning outing. His first strikeout of the game counted for his 100th professional of the season. In his appearance, he allowed four hits, one walk, and just a single run.
  • Kyren Paris notched his first five hit performance in his professional career, going 5-for-5 with four RBI and a homer. Tonight’s shortstop has hits in five of his last six games. With an out in the bottom of the fourth the Oakley, CA native demolished his 13th homer of the season, a two-run shot to the opposite field to take the team lead in long balls, passing Denzer Guzman’s 12. Paris’ round-tripper was good for his first since August 11 in El Paso. Paris has RBIs in three straight games and sits at 47 on the season.
  • Raudi Rodriguez pushed his on-base streak to seven games and hit streak to three games on an infield single. He has reached base in 13 of his 14 games played as a Bee. Rodriguez scored for the third straight game on a Jeimer Candelario triple. Rodriguez recorded his second straight single in his second at-bat. The knock made it three straight games he’s notched multiple hits. Leading off the bottom of the fifth, Rodriguez smashed his first homer in a Salt Lake uniform. Appearing in his 13th game for the Bees, the 19th-ranked prospect in the Angels system hit his first big fly at any level since a July 12 contest with Rocket City.
  • Driving in Salt Lake’s first run was Jeimer Candelario. The veteran lasered his sixth triple of the season deep into the right-center gap. Candelario has reached base safely in 11 straight games. He also has hits in consecutive games. The infielder’s six triples this year represent a new single-season career high with one team over his professional tenure. In his second trip to the plate, the Brooklyn native connected for his 11th home run of the campaign. Candelario has gone deep in two of his past four contests, marking his third home run during August. He now sits an RBI shy of 250 at the Triple-A level.
  • Yolmer Sánchez was a triple shy of his first career cycle. The veteran launched his seventh home run of the year onto the right-field berm, bringing home a runner from third on the shot. It marked the Venezuelan’s first big fly since August 4 against Oklahoma City and extended his streaks with a hit and a run scored to back-to-back contests. Sánchez doubled in his fifth at-bat to make it back-to-back games with a double and multiple hits. In his next plate appearance in the seventh inning, Sánchez secured his second consecutive three-hit game.
  • To keep the second inning surge rolling, Nelson Rada singled to the opposite field. The soon to be 21-year-old pushed his on-base streak to 10 games and his hit streak to six games on the knock. Rada sits just a game shy of his season high seven game hit streak and three games away from his season high 13 game on-base streak. Following a one out walk in the fourth, Rada swiped his 33rd base of the year. The stolen base puts him back in sole position of the PCL lead in the category.
  • Cade Marlowe extended his scoring streak to six games after reaching on a walk in the second. The outfielder is tied with Reno’s Tim Tawa for the longest active stretch in the PCL and has eight runs over this current span. He also has an on-base streak of six games, scoring at least once in each.
  • With two outs in the fourth inning, Niko Kavadas laced a double over the centerfielder’s head. The two-bagger counted for his 17th of the season. Kavadas pushed his on-base streak to seven games on the extra base hit as he now has hits in back-to-back nights.
  • Pablo Reyes hit the second straight one-out single in the bottom of the sixth. Reyes’ knock pushes his hit and on-base streaks to six games.
  • To score the run from third in the bottom of the sixth, Logan Porter dribbled a RBI groundout to the left side of the infield. The catcher propelled his RBI streak to four games which continues his season high.
  • Reliever Alex Faedo recorded his second consecutive scoreless appearance in his one inning of work. The Floridian pushed his scoreless streak to 2.1 innings in his three walk outing. He gave up no hits while striking out one.
  • Dillon Tate closed out the lopsided victory with two innings out of the ‘pen. The right-hander pushed his scoreless streak to three games which spans across five innings of work. Tate tossed two frames of one-hit ball while racking up two strikeouts. The righty is now just a single shutout inning shy of matching his season-best mark of six.
