SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — The Salt Lake Bees, in collaboration with the Los Angeles Angels, continued their commitment to community engagement Saturday, Sept. 12, as Bees players and staff members joined participants at the Miracle League of Salt Lake.
Miracle League is an adaptive baseball league designed to remove barriers that traditionally prevent individuals with disabilities from participating in the game. The league features a custom-designed, rubberized turf field that accommodates wheelchairs and other assistive devices, helping create a safe and accessible environment for players of all abilities.
The Miracle League also utilizes a supportive “buddy” system, pairing each participant with an able-bodied peer throughout the game. The program helps foster friendships, build confidence and create a sense of community while providing every participant with the opportunity to experience the joy of baseball.
Five Bees players and one staff member spent the morning on the field, joining more than 130 children and their families for a day of baseball, interaction and fun. Bryce Teodosio, Shaun Anderson, Najer Victor and Sebastian Rivero participated alongside Miracle League athletes before the Bees faced the Round Rock Express later that evening.
The Bees players had the opportunity to interact with participants, serve as buddies and share their passion for the game while helping create memorable experiences for the athletes and their families.
The first Miracle League field opened in 2000 in Conyers, Georgia. Since then, the organization has grown to more than 350 leagues across the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada, providing opportunities for more than 450,000 children and adults with disabilities to participate in baseball.
The Salt Lake Bees and Los Angeles Angels remain committed to supporting organizations throughout the community and creating opportunities for fans of all abilities to experience the game of baseball.
The Miracle League of Salt Lake provides children and adults with disabilities the opportunity to play baseball in an inclusive, accessible environment. Through adaptive facilities, organized games and its buddy program, the league works to create meaningful experiences for athletes and their families while celebrating the abilities of every participant.
