Game Summary
Zeroes filled the scoreboard to start the final Friday night of the season, with starter Brett Kerry needing just 26 total pitches to get through the first two innings.
The righty was one out away from recording a third shutout frame, but ran into some bad luck. With two runners on, Kerry induced a shallow fly ball to left that looked to be the third out. However, it was dropped by left fielder Cade Marlowe, allowing both Isotopes to score for a 2-0 Albuquerque lead.
The hosts increased their advantage to 3-0 in the fourth inning on an RBI double. Kerry avoided additional damage in the frame to complete four innings of work with just one earned run surrendered.
Salt Lake threatened in every inning, putting together their best chance in the fifth. Two singles and a walk loaded the bases full of Bees, but a strikeout of Ben Gobbel stranded all three runners. The Bees left eight runners on the paths across the first five frames.
Rain began to fall in the top of the sixth as Marlowe started the frame with his second single of the night. A flyout and strikeout were recorded, before the umpires called for the tarp to send the proceedings into a delay. The punchout would be the final at-bat of the ballgame, as five full innings had been played which is enough to make it an official contest.
Game Notes
- Salt Lake finished with a 16-10 record on Friday nights, finishing one win shy of tying the franchise record for most victories on a single day in a season. The 16 Friday wins are still the most on one day for the Bees since recording 16 Monday wins in 2016.
- Today’s stoppage of play in the top of the sixth marked the Bees’ first in-game weather delay in Albuquerque since June 19, 2022. In that game, rain created a delay in the top of the seventh and would eventually be called with one out in the frame, handing an 11-5 victory to the Isotopes.
- After going four straight games with stellar defense and no errors, the Bees turned two errors on a pair of dropped fly balls. It is the first time in 12 games that Salt Lake has posted multiple miscues in a contest (Sept. 3 at SAC, three total).
- Salt Lake was shut out for the fourth time this season; it is the second shutout defeat over their last three losses (Sept. 12 vs. RR, 13-0 Loss). This is also just the second time the Bees failed to score in a road game this season, coming up empty on April 25 at Las Vegas (4-0 Loss).
- The Bees have continued to struggle in three-run margins, moving to 8-16 in such games (7-9 on the road). Comparatively speaking, Salt Lake is 29-19 in games decided by one or two runs in 2026.
- Brett Kerry was tagged for one earned run (three total) in his four-inning start today. He bounced back from his rough two-inning, seven run effort last week against Round Rock. Kerry failed to pitch into the fifth for the second start in a row, following a streak of nine straight starts in which he did so (June 28 to September 2).
- Nelson Rada opened Friday night with a single, starting four straight games with a hit. When batting first to start a game, the outfielder holds a .314 (16-for-51) average. Another infield single gave Rada him successive nights with a multi-hit ledger and now has 39 on the year. He swiped his 42nd base tonight, two shy of matching the Bees’ single-season franchise record held by Jordyn Adams in 2023 (44 SB); Rada is 8-for-9 on the basepaths in September, and has consecutive nights with a stolen base.
- A second-inning bunt single represented Cade Marlowe’s 370th career Triple-A knock, with 140 of those coming in 2026 between Las Vegas and Salt Lake. He singled again, managing his fourth two-hit ledger across his last six games and first since September 11 vs. Round Rock.
- Logan Porter drew multiple walks for the second consecutive contest, tallying two tonight. He has reached safely in three straight games.
- Ben Gobbel managed a free pass to move the on-base streak to eight games. His walk came in the fourth inning, continuing his success in the middle frames with a .913 OPS in plate appearances between the third and sixth innings.
- Keeping his on-base streak alive was Yolmer Sánchez. The utilityman drew a 10-pitch walk, coming on the heels of seeing 46 total pitches yesterday.
- After starting September batting 1-for-22 (.045), Arol Vera had his second straight game with a hit, singling to right in the fifth.
- Raudi Rodriguez has hits in three consecutive games, while reaching safely in each of his last four games.
- Niko Kavadas notched his 225th career walk at Triple-A, extending his on-base streak to eight games in the process. He saw his seven-game hit streak end in the shortened game, but increased his September OPS to a PCL-leading 1.205.
