SAN ANTONIO (Sept. 7, 2026) — Minor League Baseball announced today that San Antonio Missions outfielder Braedon Karpathios is the Texas League Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 1-6.
Karpathios tore through the Midland RockHounds, going 14-22 (.636) with three doubles, two homers and 13 RBIs—the most across Double-A baseball during the period. Karpathios is not only on an eight-game hit streak but also has multiple hits in seven straight games.
The Willow Street, Pennsylvania native has set the tone offensively all season for the Missions. He leads San Antonio with 17 home runs, 73 RBIs, a .444 slugging percentage, 120 hits, three triples and 60 walks. Defensively, he also leads the team with 11 outfield assists. His 17 home runs are the most for any Mission since Keston Hiura hit 19 in 2019.
This is the first time a Mission has won a weekly award during the 2026 season. Karpathios previously earned California League Player of the Month honors in August of 2024 while with the Lake Elsinore Storm, but he had never won a weekly award.
Karpathios signed with San Diego Padres as an undrafted free agent out of Harford Community College in July of 2022. The former two-way player who underwent Tommy John Surgery in high school focused on becoming a position player and has since soared through the Padres’ system while jumping on national radars. He played in the 2025 Arizona Fall League and is ranked by MLB Pipeline as the No. 19 Padres prospect.
Karpathios and the Missions are headed to Amarillo to face the Sod Poodles in the final six-game series of the 2026 season. First pitch from Hodgetown is at 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday.
