SAN ANTONIO (Sept. 6, 2026) — Clark Elliott and Brennan Milone smacked two two-run homers over the right field wall to push the Midland RockHounds (30-33) past the San Antonio Missions (27-36) in the final home game of the Missions’ regular season by a score of 5-1. 4,031 fans attended the finale, the most of any Sunday home game this year in San Antonio.
The RockHounds grabbed the initial advantage of the contest against Missions lefty Jamie Hitt in the opening frame after a sacrifice fly scored leadoff hitter Elliott. Elliot made his way around into scoring position after a walk and a Brennan Milone double.
Hitt bounced back with a 1-2-3 second inning, capping it off with two punchouts.
Elliott extended the one run lead for Midland after CJ Rodriguez’s leadoff double in the third stanza with a two-run dinger over the right field wall. The RockHounds threatened to grow their lead even further in the inning with two more base hits, but Hitt escaped with a strikeout.
Hitt made it three consecutive strikeouts to start the top of the fourth frame with K’s of Cameron Leary and Pedro Pineda making it the second time he set down the duo on strikes in the contest. Although the strong start, Rodriguez and Elliott received back-to back free passes, but the southpaw remained cool and collected to get out of the jam with another strikeout.
Midland starter Jackson Finley only struck out three Missions but kept them scoreless while only allowing two hits to Albert Fabian and Braedon Karpathios. Finley capped off his performance by retiring the side in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Relievers from both squads, Zane Taylor and Harry Gustin, retired the sides in the bottom of the fifth and top of the sixth. After trading blows, Taylor surrendered a run to Oswaldo Linares off a Romeo Sanabria sacrifice fly in San Antonio’s next turn and Gustin also allowed a two-run homer to Milone in the top of the seventh as the Midland lead grew 5-1.
The Missions looked to build momentum off their previous run with two base hits in the bottom of the seventh stanza, but A.J. Causey took over the mound to eliminate the danger with two strikeouts to close the inning.
Francis Peña retried the Midland order in the top of the ninth, but the Missions were unable to come up with any more rallies in the eighth and ninth frames in their final home game of the season in their 5-1 loss to the RockHounds.
