SAN ANTONIO (Sept. 5, 2026) — The Midland RockHounds (30-32) grabbed hold of an early 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back as they went on to score 10 runs on twelve hits against the San Antonio Missions (27-35) on Star Wars Night.
Missions starter Eric Yost struggled to put the RockHounds away in the opening frame following two quick outs after surrendering a hit. Casey Yamauchi stole a bag, and two free passes were given out as Yost found himself in trouble with the bases loaded. Cameron Leary rattled off a three-run triple to deep center field to give Midland an early 3-0 advantage.
Midland’s Euribiel Angeles increased the RockHounds’ lead after his leadoff single in the top of the third. Angeles then stole second base, advanced to third base after a flyout and scored on a balk.
Romeo Sanabria helped the Missions cut into the RockHounds lead with an RBI double to score Alex McCoy after his two-out base hit in the third inning.
Midland’s offense continued to pour it on the Missions’ defense by scoring four more runs in the fifth inning, this time against reliever Bernard Jose. Jose took over the mound for Yost after the starter neared 90 total pitches in four innings. Leary drove in a run on a single after Midland loaded the bases to begin the frame. A Logan Sauve walk scored another run as the house remained full for the RockHounds and a fielding error from Ryan Jackson allowed two more runs to score before the end of the inning as Midland’s lead grew 8-1.
Nate Nankil rubbed salt in the Missions wound by clobbering a ball over the left field wall and Jared Sprague-Lott made it double-digit runs scored for the RockHounds after his RBI triple.
Albert Fabian sent a hard-hit ground ball rolling down the left field foul line to score Jack Costello after his base hit in the bottom of the sixth stanza. That would be all the offense the Missions could muster in the contest as San Antonio was kept scoreless for the remainder of the ballgame in their 10-2 loss.
