ALLENTOWN, PA (August 15, 2026) – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders fell 5-4 to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Saturday evening at Coca-Cola Park. Brendan Beck worked a quality start for the RailRiders, but the IronPigs tallied runs in the seventh and eighth to clinch the series with one game to go.
Tyler Hardman staked the RailRiders to a 1-0 edge in the second with an RBI single.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre extended the advantage with two runs in the top of the third. Jasson Domínguez reached on a fielder’s choice and moved to third on a Max Schuemann double. J.C Escarra doubled off the high wall in right to plate both Domínguez and Schuemann for a 3-0 lead.
Lehigh Valley narrowed the deficit to one in the bottom of the inning on RBI singles from Tommy Pham and Keaton Anthony.
Schuemann’s third RailRiders’ home run extended the lead in the top of the fifth, but the IronPigs countered with a run on two hits in the home half of the inning.
Former RailRider Payton Henry tied the game with a solo home run to right-center off reliever Hayden Merda in the bottom of the seventh. Pinch runner Colby Thomas scored the go-ahead and winning run in the bottom of the eighth on an infielder groundout and a throwing error.
Beck allowed three runs on six hits with seven strikeouts over six complete. Justin Topa (0-3) allowed the unearned run in the bottom of the eighth in the loss. Grant Holman (2-0) was the beneficiary of the eighth-inning run in the win.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:15 P.M. on Sunday afternoon in the series finale. Alexander Cornielle takes the mound for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre against Casey Lawrance in his Lehigh Valley debut.
