MOOSIC, PA (August 6, 2026) – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders dropped their second consecutive game to the Rochester Red Wings 10-5 Thursday night. Duke Ellis swiped two bags to nab a franchise record with 84 total steals in his RailRiders career.
Rochester got on the board first after they got the bases loaded early. A walk and a balk pushed two runs across for 2-0 lead.
The RailRiders cut the lead in half in the third frame. Ernesto Martínez Jr. earned a walk and quickly stole second. He came home on a Max Schuemann RBI double.
SWB tied it up in the next inning. Again, they led off with a walk courtesy of Marco Luciano. Duke Ellis doubled to put them both in scoring position. Once again Schuemann was there, this time with a 3-run shot, for a 5-2 score.
The Red Wings unloaded in the sixth to score six runs for an 8-5 advantage. Maxwell Romero Jr. homered off of Danny Watson to start the inning. The visitors loaded the bases for the second time in the game. A two-run single from Trey Lipscomb and two-run double off the bat of Riley Adams brought them back to the winning side. Romero Jr. capped off the frame with his second hit and RBI of the inning.
In the seventh, Duke Ellis reached on an error to start the frame. He stole second, his 41st of the season and the 83rd of his RailRiders career. This marked a franchise record for Ellis as he eclipsed Nick Punto's 82 total swipes. Duke promptly stole third to make it 42 on the season and 84 with SWB. The RailRiders season record is 44 set by Tommy Barrett in 1989.
A two-run homer off the bat of Romero Jr., his second of the game, made the final score 10-5.
