MOOSIC, PA (September 5, 2026) – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders dropped a back-and-forth contest 8-6 to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs Saturday night. Everyone in the RailRiders starting lineup recorded a hit but the IronPigs took the lead in the top of the ninth inning to secure the victory.
The IronPigs once again took an early lead in the first frame. On a pair of singles, a walk, and a RailRiders error, Lehigh Valley worked a 2-0 lead.
Oswaldo Cabrera led off with a walk in the bottom of the second. Max Schuemann singled to put two aboard and a three-run blast off the bat of Tyler Hardman made it 3-2.
Immediately, Carter Kieboom tied things up at three apiece courtesy of a sacrifice fly.
Lehigh Valley extended the advantage 4-3in the sixth. Kieboom singled to reach and scored on a RailRiders error.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre jumped back in front in the seventh. Jarred Kelenic recorded his first knock, stole second, and reached third on an error. Anthony Volpe laced an RBI single to tie things up. He stole second and raced home on Cabrera's run-scoring hit for a 5-4 advantage.
The visitors were there again in the next inning. Kameron Misner launched a home run to right to tie things up once again.
In the home half of the eighth, Yanquiel Fernández led off with a base hit. Duke Ellis came in to pinch run and quickly stole second and third. Kenedy Corona dropped a bunt down in front of home place and Ellis raced home to take the 6-5 lead.
The IronPigs wouldn't go quietly as they belted back-to-back doubles to start the ninth. Along with the RailRiders third error of the game, Lehigh Valley plated three runs to make it an 8-6 score.
RailRiders' Xavier Rivas worked five innings, allowing three runs, though two earned. Fellow starter Chuck King also let up three runs in five frames. Brad Hanner (L, 6-3) took the loss with the go-ahead runs scoring in the ninth.
