ROCHESTER, NY (September 7, 2026) – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders fell 3-1 to the Rochester Red Wings at ESL Ballpark on Monday. The Red Wings scored in three different frames to take a one-game lead over the RailRiders, with 11 games to play in the International League’s second half.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre opened the scoring in the top of the third. Kenedy Corona was hit by a pitch from Andry Lara and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Jarred Kelenic’s single plated Corona for the 1-0 advantage.
Rochester evened the score in the fourth on a hit-by-pitch and a run-scoring double by Leandro Pineda.
The Red Wings took a 2-1 lead in the sixth on a pair of hits and a walk. Sam Peterson singled in Leandro Pineda with two down to put Rochester in front. The Wings extended the lead with a run-scoring triple from Peterson in the eighth.
Alexander Cornielle (5-4) took the loss, allowing the first two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts in a quality start. Kyle Nicholas (3-1) earned the win, and Gus Varland recorded a four-out save.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Rochester are idle on Tuesday and continue this six-game set on Wednesday at 6:05 P.M. Brendan Beck and former Yankees farmhand Jack Cebert are slated to square off.
