Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate, will rebrand as the Somerset Semiquincentennials in honor of America’s 250th Celebration. The Somerset Semiquincentennials are presented by the Somerset County Commissioners and Tourism Office.
The Patriots will play as the Somerset Semiquincentennials, meaning 250th anniversary, for Independence Day Weekend on Friday, July 3rd, Saturday, July 4th and Sunday, July 5th, as well as Saturday, August 15th for the team’s annual Revolutionary Revelry Night. The games on July 3rd and 4th and August 15th feature postgame fireworks.
At the games, the players and coaches will be wearing special on-field jerseys highlighted by red and blue pinstripes with the Semiquincentennials wordmark across the chest in blue. The blue sleeves include signatures from the Declaration of Independence signees in gold writing. The left sleeve features a logo with a quill pen in a circle that says United States of America on the top and 250 Years | 1776 – 2026 on the bottom. The Patriots secondary logo appears on the right sleeve.
The concourse will include different interactive displays in partnership with the Heritage Trail Association, who will also be providing characters in Revolutionary dress. Fans will be able to sign their own copy of the Declaration of Independence and get a custom wax seal and more.
During the pre-game ceremonies, there will be a reading of the Declaration of Independence, including a historic one on July 5 by descendants of the five New Jersey signers of the document – Abraham Clark, John Hart, Francis Hopkinson, Richard Stockton and John Witherspoon.
TD Bank Ballpark will be decorated with Yankee Doodle streamers and historical flags over seating sections.
The first 2,000 fans will receive commemorative card strips as they enter the ballpark presented by PSE&G. Each strip will focus on different historical locations, events and people connected to the Revolutionary War in New Jersey.
The August 15 Revolutionary Revelry Night in conjunction with the Heritage Trail Association will feature various table displays on the concourse, encampments in front of the ballpark and period dressed characters including George Washington. One of the highlights of the event will be the firing of a cannon following the postgame fireworks on the field.
The Somerset Semiquincentennials logos were designed by Fooser Sports Design and features the use of Old Glory Red, Basic White and Old Glory Blue to represent the exact color shades used on the American flag.
The primary logo is a circle with a bald eagle, also featured on the cap, wearing a top hat to pay homage to America and the Patriots’ parent club, the New York Yankees. The three stars on the top hat honors New Jersey as the third state and the 19 stars around the circle represent the 19 letters of Semiquincentennials.
In addition, a quill signers logo represents the five names of the men who hailed from New Jersey that signed the Declaration of Independence – Abraham Clark, John Hart, Francis Hopkinson, Richard Stockton and John Witherspoon.
