Hillsboro scored five in the fourth and four in the fifth as they thumped the Indians, 9-0, in front of 3,841 fans at Avista Stadium for Back to School Night presented by KREM 2.

Grif Hughes was sharp out of the bullpen for Spokane, striking out five while allowing no hits and no walks over three scoreless innings. An undrafted free agent out of Division II Carson-Newman University (Jefferson City, TN), Hughes spent parts of three season in Indy Ball with the Evansville Otters before signing with the Rockies this spring. The left-hander is enjoying a breakout season across three levels this year, posting a 3-1 record, 3.04 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 68 K/9 BB mark in 56.1 innings.
Tommy Hopfe reached base three times (1B, BB, HBP) in the loss.
