SPRINGFIELD, MO - The Cardinals clinched a playoff berth with an 8-6 win over the San Antonio Missions on Sunday afternoon at Route 66 Stadium.
Wichita's loss shortly after the completion of Springfield's game lowered the magic number from one to zero.
Springfield broke a 3-3 tie in the fifth inning with a three-homer barrage. Jon Jon Gazdar started the inning with a solo shot to left before Rainiel Rodriguez hit his 20th home run of the season. Jack Gurevitch capped it off with a two-run homer.
Yhoiker Fajardo allowed three runs (one earned) over five innings to pick up his third Double-A win.
