Daniel Eagen strikes out eleven, Springfield becomes Second Half Champions

SPRINGFIELD, MO - The Springfield Cardinals solidified their playoff position with an 10-7 victory on Tuesday night. Behind a stellar performance from Daniel Eagen, Springfield became North Division Second Half Champions.

NOTES:

  • Eagen matched a season-high 11 strikeouts on Tuesday. He exited the game as the Texas League's strikeout leader with 157 on the year. The Cardinals as a club lead all of Double-A baseball.
  • Ian Petrutz homered in his first at bat at Route 66 Stadium, a three-run shot. Jack Gurevitch also hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh.
  • Cade McGee brought home a pair with a double in the third inning. It was also his first game at Route 66 Stadium.
  • Deniel Ortiz launched a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. The blast tied the Springfield single-season franchise record with the club's 178th homer of the year.
  • This is the fourth straight season that Springfield has been first or second half champions.
