Naturals take finale over Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MO - The Springfield Cardinals dropped the final game against Northwest Arkansas on Sunday by a 6-5 final. A grand slam from Justin Johnson in the fourth inning created lead too large to overcome for the Cardinals.

NOTES:

  • Springfield scored three times in the first inning. Tai Peete and Rainiel Rodriguez both doubled on the first pitches they saw, giving the Cardinals the lead two pitches into the game.
  • Davis surrendered the grand slam and was saddled with six earned runs over five innings of work.
  • The Cardinals had the tying run aboard in the eighth and the winning run aboard in the ninth but could not bring them across.
  • Springfield split the series with the Naturals at three games each.
