CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Ian Petrutz capped off a six-run eighth inning rally with a grand slam to solidify a Cardinals 8-2 win over the Corpus Christi Hooks on Sunday at Whataburger Field.
The slam was Petrutz's first hit at Double-A in his second game with the Cardinals.
Springfield had broken the tie earlier in the inning thanks to two run-scoring wild pitches.
Jesus Baez tied the game, 2-2, in the fourth inning with a two-run home run, his 23rd with the Cardinals this season.
Four Springfield relievers combined for 5.1 hitless innings with 10 total strikeouts.

NOTES:
• Petrutz's grand slam was the 10th of the year for Springfield. It's the most in franchise history.
• Baez has now hit 37 total home runs this season between Peoria and Springfield.
• Yhoiker Fajardo allowed two runs over 3.2 innings in his start.
• The Cardinals finished 5-1 in the series at Corpus Christi.
